This is more weird than problematic, but it seems that a ghost of the footprint of my last print was left on the bottom of my new print, and I’ve never seen this before. Its surprising how visible it is given that both prints were done in the same filament. I usually wipe down my plate with IPA after a print, though it is possible that I forgot this time. Has anyone else seen something like this?
The additives in even PLA give it a higher bond, even the PEI sheet will retain some of that bonding material unless its cleaned, the ghost image is just a build up coming off with the new print
I actually get this when I print something with my Gold (Silk PLA) first, then something else after. Not matter what color the next print is, it even shows up on black PLA. The gold seriously stains my plate and even though it looks completely clean to the eye, it stains the 1st layer of my next print yellowish/gold. I’ve changed 3 different brands of Gold and all 3 brands seem to do this. It’s super annoying and IPA doesn’t seem to do anything. I usually print 1 layer of a cube and peal it off to get rid of the staining.
I’m not sure how yours is staining with white though LOL And yes I’m also using the textured PEI plate. (I use a textured PEI plate on my other bedslingers, and it also stains those)
Exactly!!! The Gold Silk PLA, especially Bambu Silk PLA in my view is the devils spawn. It leaves horrible stains on my smooth plates with or without glue. I ended up throwing away half a spool because I won’t use it again.
Hi Olias. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to see on the plate. It is the textured plate and I reprinted the part and the stain of the square-within-a-square that you can see on the previous part is gone.
I am using Bambu PLA matte and I had noticed previously that is leaves a bit of residue on the plate, but I hadn’t noticed the staining. I guess I’ll have to use soap and water more often rather than relying on IPA.
