Good adhesion on OEM Textured PEI plate

I was very happy today to discover that the OEM textured plate with PLA is grippy enough to support a 374mm long boat model without supports. “Holding patch” was 85 x 30mm. I was expecting it to fail at 75%, but it hung on. :slight_smile:

Thanks, BambuLab!!

I’ve seen pictures like that before, but I’ve never been brave enough try it out myself. I’d have added a few supports along the way just in case. Regardless, that’s always impressive to see.

I wanted the deck to be super-smooth, “fair” as it’s called in the biz. I also wondered how far I could stretch it. I probably won’t push it that hard again. :slight_smile:

That is killer.
What type, brand or whatever is the hull for? Don’t get to do it much anymore but I like boats and boating. Is it for an RC boat?

Thanks! It is a hull I drew for an 85-footer a few years ago. Retired yacht designer, still doodling…
This is a rendering of the “real thing”. (Edit - the forum removed the background, but there’s enough left…)
The print was just for fun.

That is a good-looking hull. That must have taken a few minutes to print. :wink:

@Ken-N-Texas - yeah… About 7.5 hours. :slight_smile:
And, Thanks.

Reminds me of a some Magnums I saw at Miami Boat Show many years ago.

Funny how one 80-foot runabout looks very like another. :slight_smile:

But, Yeah - there was some inspiration there for the hull. I just didn’t like their decks.

That was probably 1984 when I saw the one I saw. So it would have been a brand new 1984. It was in the air getting lifted onto a trailer to go the one of the venues.
