When the glass top fell to the floor. A thousand glass shards on the ground and everywhere. Fortunately not in the printer itself.
I had the same accidental some time ago, I had a piece of 5mm clear Perspex cut to the glass top size, mounted the original lifting knob and now if I drop it it does not break into a million pieces. I have the file for the laser to profile cut the top if you are interested.
Now, If only I had a lasercutter 
Ordered a new glasstop and hope it will arrive soon.
i almost did that but i saved it right before it hit the ground like a day and a half after i got the printer
