Nobody has explained anything. Just guesses and misunderstanding of profit margins. And also somehow think a gen 2 would be drastically different in sales or somehow be cheaper to manufacture. I believe most people feel the way I do. Based on nearly everything ive watched or read. Beside the 3 or so people on this forum.
You use arguments for the a1 but say those same arguments dont work with an xl. Things like increased profit margin after recouping up-front costs. I just think its funny that youre so invested in the idea that its impossible for now but will be possible after the release of the a1. Its hilarious reading all the contradictions here. Youre saying they should have started with a small bed slinger after months of saying bed slingers suck and that they were smart for starting with the larger x1 platform. Because its a better seller and cheaper to design and manufacture.
You cherry picked things to respond to but then only responded ābecause its expensiveā basically. Manufacturing is expensive.
I feel like, if bambu announced a month ago that they were planning a bed slinger but decided to wait and do an xl first, you would here arguing that was the better decision. Both are going to be great. btw.
Iām just giving my perspective from a career in injection molding and 3 decades of bringing products to marketing as a design engineer. What you do with this perspective is up to you.
@christian.woznik explained it perfectly above why the A1 is at its price point and what the costs behind the Xl areā¦
Well, I donāt know, and I donāt need to know it either
But what I do know:
Prusa XL - āNew orders will be processed in the first half of 2024ā. Of course I will not order it, will not buy a Bambulab and then an XL Prusa, money doesnāt grow on trees for me too. But if my Bambulab will fail, a multi-head system will come along incl. TPU into ASAā¦ and if I put the Bambulab in a room with 40Ā°C, the display started to flicker. I gave too much weight to the outer casing, this i can do by myself.
My experiences, which are for sure are not representative:
Everyone who wanted a 3D printer has one (theyāve been very cheap for the last 2 years) and they are now looking for better equipped printers or are happy with what they have. Everyone else looks 20 seconds at my printer on a really interessted way. Asks about the possibilities and than changes the subject immediately. Than they will may call 2 weeks later to see if I can do that. If itās something important, unique, no longer replaceable, no longer sold on the usual market and on something with value, Iāll do it. If not they can order something else simular on Aliexpress and for sure do not start printing by themself. Even if they could get the template from the internet they wan`t. You really do not need to be a genius to be able to figure this out becouse if you have to look for it on the Internet, you also can order it on the Internet. Than they do not need to spend money on the printer first. And even if they would buy the printer, they still need to print it and how much Plastic you get on Aliexpress for 290 or 500 USD? You really just print if you really want to do it and not becouse you get a Printer easyer to handelā¦ However and as noted, just my experiences, which are for sure are not representative. And as already mentioned, even the smallest market can be pretty damn big.
And with this information everyone can do whatever they want - we all grow from our experiences every day
All the wringing of hands over the A1. Bambu is no more immune to market forces than anyone else. The fact is that Bambu absolutely needed to release and entry level machine for the mass market so that people new to the hobby would have a good experience and become loyal to the brand as they stepped up to bigger machines. I also think they will be more likely to get ALL their supplies from Bambu because they will be more risk averse than our distniguished group.
Iām dying for Bambu to make a 350 cubed machine but I am also realistic. They wouldnāt sell as many or make as much money form an even more limited market.
You also have a choice. I paid for a Peopoly Magneto nearly the moment I confirmed there was no big Bambu in my immediate future. I am very afraid I will be disappointed but tired of the whole Voron scene. I still love my X1C and as a 7 year 3d printing hobbyist I can categorically say it was a real paradigm shift in quality of life.
Bambu, keep making the decisions that will keep you in business for the long run.
A1 is surely a good starter - if someone wants it they should buy it. Iāve seen one review so far that addresses problems openly and understandable that even beginners understand it. If you donāt do that, wringing will happen. The A1 is a good printer butā¦ and then you get the loyal customers.
I also think your post is good - that also needs to be said.
How many times have I seen problems here that I didnāt understand until I saw that it was a P1P or a P1S user and yes, there is a difference to a X1. On the other hand as well, read ones through the AMS forum - one problem after another, letās see how much wringing you get here in a few month if everthing is just perfect on this A1 and then in the closed AMS light package - it`s the beginnermodel with disadvantages, and if you donāt take the disadvantages into account in time, you shouldnāt be surprised that annoy one or two customers starts wringing. Also for those who bought a P1S and now an A1 is perfect? Keeping the ball flat requires the ābutā on the A1 and it amazes me how flat the ball fortunately keep stayed.
When I received my X1 I was extremely satisfied. But I would have been happy to hear about the one or two problems and had to learn to read more and watch less. For example something Iāve never read here, how a 12 hour print becomes a 2 day print. I donāt normally do multi-color prints, but the one special birthday present with 4 colors in one layer almost drove me crazy because of all the pop leftovers which were recognized as spaghetti and the printer asked to be on the safe side. OK, now I could have turned off the spaghetti registration, but then I wouldnāt have had any peace and quiet - I donāt have a printer to stand next to (Iām gone before the nozzle is up to temperature). And despite all the positive experiences, there were also negative things that would may have led me to an XL multicolor printer with 5 Heads. I also looked at the I-Fast and the 700 USD more to 3200 USD certainly wouldnāt have stopped me. If the X1 is above all problems, why the 2 creality S1 Pro are running every day? If they solved all of this on the A1, then I m definitely gone as a customerā¦ But luckily the A1 is a beginner printer with certainly 2-3 problems.
Maybe if this forum wasnt junk i wouldnt have to. Whatās amazing to me is you took your time out of your day to tell me that without even remotely helping thank you so much I really appreciate your commentary
Check your discobot welcome message.
Following the links there will answer your question as to what (little) you have to do to earn sufficient trust and learn the doās and donāts of the community forum.
There was no welcome message from any discobot, Just a forum void of any instructions leaving me to waste everybodyās time in including mine instead of just being able to ask a simple setup question that is not covered anywhere in the assembly instructions or setup guides.
In a forum it would be even normal if your entries post were hidden until it`s edited by a moderator.
Many Printer manufacturers do not even have a forum were you can ask anything.
The right to start a topic you get quickly, so donāt panic at all, take a breath.
Beginner problems are very interesting for Bambulab. I think you will get a really god answer to your problem from people who donāt get paid for it and do it for free. So please keep this in mind (You donāt talk to Bambulab employees here, so don`t blame them, they do it for free) ā¦
Wait until you can start your topic or ask the question you want ask so you get help. So slow down a bit and youāll be fine
This is one of the more robust and participatory 3D printer manufacturer forums you will find. You are absolutely the only person Iāve ever heard express that opinion about this particular forum. It might behoove you to step outside of yourself for a moment.
Agree. Ive never had a single issue with how the forum works. As with all forums, there are some things you need to read and do before getting started as a poster.
I do think its awesome that they scaled the mini up to a non mini a1. Wonder how they managed it based on all these old comments.
