H2C printed part height always added 0.16mm

Hi all, I am new to the Bambu Lab H2C. I have one question, H2C printed part height always added 0.16mm to its height, how can I solve it?

e.g. my model is 20mmx20mmx20mm, it turns out the x and y is about 20mm. However, the z height is around 20.16mm. I want it to be exact 20mm just like the x and y dimension. I have enabled or disable the elephant foot compensation, but the result is the same. Please help.

this seem to be a Z-axis problem, try auto bed leveling,do manual leveling and inspect the Z-axis lead screw.

Hi Eric, and welcome.

W/out knowing your actual settings, I’m going to guess this is most likely a layer height issue inherent to FDM printing. Consider for example a 0.24mm layer height (ignoring for now that the initial layer may have a different height).

0.24 * 83 layers = 19.92mm

The slicer will usually (always?) round that up to another layer so it gets your minimum 20mm height.

19.92 + 0.24 = 20.16mm

2 ways to avoid this…

  1. Enable “Precise Z height” in Quality → Precision settings. This will automatically adjust the height of a few topmost layers so the result is closer to the original 20mm. This may or may not be obvious after printing, depending on the design… generally it does a pretty good job. You can typically see this height variance in the slice preview (when zoomed in).

  2. Adjust the layer height to an even multiple of your desired total height, like 0.25mm or 0.2mm in this case (including the initial layer). This way the resulting height for a 20mm cube is always exact as well, w/out varying layer heights.

already turn auto bed leveling from auto to on to force it proceed. same result z distance is 20.15mm-20.16mm. Layer height is 0.2mm, initial layer height is 0.2mm too.
i have also done the vision plate calibration. still same issue.
i just print a cube 20mmx20mmx20mm with bambu la PLA Pure with default setting.

First check would be to see what the slicer shows at the vertical slider that allows you to go through the layers. It shows height too.

If that is exactly 20mm then maybe good to print some 100mm high tower and see if the deviation is increasing also. That might indicate an issue in the Z-motion system.

You might try another material also, and maybe a very silly remark, is your caliper calibrated?

The vision encoder plate won’t calibrate anything in Z btw.

After numbers of trying, i found that the default texture pei plate cause the issue, if i change to a engineering plate, the printed part bottom thickness will be corrected.

The only difference that I know of for the Textured PEI plate, is that the Z offset is -0.02mm compensated for a better first layer adhesio, as the filament is squished into the texture a bit, as probing basically measures the top of the texture.
But this is done on gcode level, so shouldn’t affect the slicer itself.

But that 0.02mm correction doesn’t come close to 0.16mm.

I need to dig into the start gcode of the H2C then. Might be something weird in there.
