Got the H2C last night, have a couple things to say.
- 0. Justifications: Why I Bought it?
I bought it mainly because I believe that with the Vortek induction heater, I can experiment and benefit from rapid printing temperature adjustments. As a researcher and developer I’m currently spending some of my spare time to investigate this topic and potentially get something out of it.
Also I can claim tax return on this machine as it’s related to my work, so it’s not costing as much as it seems. I don’t recommend normal hobby based H2D owners to do the same unless you’re in need. Or just too rich ;p

- 1. Unboxing experience: A slight downgrade and some improvements
Well a couple things I want to complain about first:
Handles. Handles on the packaging of H2C and newer H2Ds are SHARP. They make your hands hurt a lot.
Older H2Ds have rounded handles, those are very very very ergonomic and it was not even as hard for me to carry it to the second floor where I live by myself. With this H2C, me and my friend took quite some rests because it just hurts the fingers too much. The weight is not the problem for me or for us, but just the handle design is terrible.
Inside, the packaging has been improved compared to my early H2D. It’s definitely even more secure this time. However, the provided H2.0 (2.0mm Hexagon) allenkey is too large and hard to reach some screws. When spinning the allenkey, you would have some bumps here and there.
I would highly recommend any Bambu owner to get a kit like this, which can solve most of your “hard to reach” screw issues. The rachet, the extender, both play a critical role to ease your nerves.
- 2. Out-of-Factory “issues”
Did a motion accuracy calibration and I’ve got some pretty bad results. Pretty sure it’s MUCH worse than my H2D mechanically. So I re-tightened the belts, after that it’s still looking the same.
Then I went for bed tramming using a dial gauge. Well out of the box the tramming wasn’t good, had 0.8mm ish difference across all 4 visual markers on the plate. After the tramming, the area within 4 markers have been optimised but I didn’t go for the outer area. It seems that I’ve got a taco plate, which is sad because again my earlier H2D nuked it, both before and after tramming.
I did a motion accuracy test again, got same results as before, so I guess there’s nothing I can do for now, just trust the software and hope for the best.
- 3. Print Quality
OK Print quality as for now is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
A test (and also functional) print for 0.4 nozzle:
I haven’t done anything multi material/multi color yet, but this is the finest 2mm thin pillars I’ve ever printed on any FDM machine. And it’s using Clear PETG, so it’s not the easiest flow to deal with.
I’m pretty sure the Vortek hotend has done something right making the flow/extrusion much easier to control, or stable, but I don’t know what’s actually behind that. Anyway I’m super super impressed. If I were Bambu I would be doing advertisements based on this, rather than anything else.
