Nobody here expects perfection. The expectation is that the expensive printer doesn’t leave obvious gaps in prints since the previous and cheaper generation didn’t.
I also think the comparisons others have made to X1C are notable.

I wonder if it is the case that the X1C has been out for a long time and has improved over that time with new firmware and better support in the slicer.
Maybe as H2C users we are just in that improvement phase as data becomes available to BL to drive those improvements.
It is annoying, but today’s markets are fast moving and to be in front you have to release and improve rather than searching for perfection before release.
Yea, I don’t expect magic. But I expect the same quality that I had on the X1C.
I have quite a few H2C’s and D’s and don’t have any under extrusion issues. Is this with default profiles or? Does this happen on all filament types etc?
Yeah. My H2C definitely prints as well or better than my X1C. This isn’t a filament issue, it’s an extruder calibration issue.
As an experiment, I bumped the generic ASA flow from 0.96 to 0.98, a 2% increase, on a print I ran last night. My first layer print quality went from perfect to definitely extruding just a little too much. So my extruder seems to be pretty much “balls on” calibration-wise.
Before, first layer was pretty much smooth as glass. After, first layer had ridges and some blobs.

Done in ABS (I don’t own a roll of PLA). HF BL 0.4 nozzle at 30mm/s volumetric speed.
I would say you’ve got some pretty good size gaps in your top layer. Way more than I had on my x1c.
Probably.. this was printed at super speed with a HF and no ironing. But it’s definitely not under extruding lol.

Yeah.. but you aren’t really showing anything bad there. You have a round nozzle coming up to the edge of a straight wall.
Yes, the circle is a straight wall that’s anywhere from perfectly perpendicular to the nozzle to almost parallel. And each time it goes into the wall of that circle, you are only allowing 15% (by default) of that nozzle to enter the wall area (which is tiny for an already tiny 0.4 nozzle), and a tiny model, and a tiny hole, then asking to retract and turn around.
That’s why you see the perceived “gaps” not where the nozzle is turning around with wall of the circle directly in front of you (perpendicular) but as that round nozzle of 0.4mm tries to angle into the wall of that circle that’s at even more of an angle and telling the printer that you will only allow 15% of the nozzle to get inside that wall before it turns around.
Because a wall that’s perfectly perpendicular to the nozzle, even at 15% of the nozzle only allowed to go into the wall, that wall still has coverage on both sides of the nozzle.
As you can see by your picture., at the extreme angles, a nozzle needs to go much further into the wall of that circle to fill the gap, but your slicer settings, if default, are telling it explicitly not to.
Change your infill / wall overlap to 35% and try the same thing. Change nothing else. Then you’ll probably see a large majority of the gaps you think are issues, dissapear.
The other lines definitely look like you have some sort of underextrusion, but you can control that in an infinite amount of ways for surface quality.
I’m sure the X1 / P1 etc., have perfect profiles as they have millions of more hours combined of people making profiles for them. The H2C you pretty much have BBL filament and generic to get you going.
I do believe that the stock Monotonic Line does not use the infill / wall parameter. If you change it to monotonic it does.
I have tuned it out with these three changes…
Top surface pattern = Monotonic
Infill / wall overlap = 45
To surface flow = 1.02
I think the point most people are trying to make here is that the profiles aren’t as tuned as they have been on previous Bambu machines, myself included. I’m sure they’ll get better as time goes on. I just make my adjustments, save as new profile, and move on.
For me, Tuning the hot rod is just as much fun as race day. Some people just want to drive though. Bambu unfortunately markets this as perfect out of the box.
@Codyprince Well said, “they’l get better as time goes on.” But I also feel, it is up to us the people using the printers to highlight where those improvements need to be made and not to be complacent with how it is. That is, to keep these threads going to collect the information needed to make those improvements.
I can defenitely confirm that this is an issue. Not catastrophic, but an issue. I printed a remote and was not impressed with the bottom layer - I adjusted the flow rate 1.05 and it is muuuuch better. Now I will gradually take it down a notch, as this kind of fuses my prints to the bed.
2 quick questions:
1.) Standard flow rate is 0.97 - 0.97 what? Intutively 1 would make sense and then you work your way up or down from there.
2.) Is there a more elegant way to increase the flowrate overall without having to adjust every filament and every color and then always needing to remember to apply the user profile? I’d rather tell the printe to increase flow by 3% generally…
I’m too lazy to create profiles for things I know I will change in every case. For example, if you knew you were going to change the flow ratio for every color of Bambu PETG HF, you could edit the .json file. This is the path to all the filaments you have installed… C:\Users\cody.prince\AppData\Roaming\BambuStudio\system\BBL
Of Course your name will be different. I do changes in processes like this as well.
You’ll need to learn the whole “inherits” thing.
for example, the Bambu PETG Hf @bbl H2C.json has this in it…
“inherits”: “Bambu PETG HF @base”.
I’m just a plumber and figured it out. I’m sure you can as well. Download notepad++ to make your edits. I don’t think windows text editor works very well. at least it didn’t a few years ago.
