H2D appears to be false spaghetti alerting

So I’m trying to print a piece with Sunlu matte PLA and the printer has stopped three times with a spaghetti alert. Checking the print area, there’s a tiny thin wisp of filament at the last spot where the nozzle printed, which I would think was left after it retracted to the purge chute. I honestly can’t see any spaghetti anywhere else.

I have seen in the past the nozzle dragging a huge lump of spaghettit filament behind it but it doesn’t alert at all. And I’ve done some prints where there has been a lot of “hair” at the end, but the printer doesn’t stop during the print.

If I tell it to resume it carries on for another 20 minutes or so and then stops again. I’ve watched it print for a while, doesn’t seem to be any spaghetti happening. When it alerts, by the time I get to the printer the head is over the purge chute so I can’t tell if there was any spaghetti. Given I’ve seen it during other prints just dumped on the build plate or dragging behing the print head, I’d say there isn’t any.

Anybody seen this? Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity?

Hi Pete,

You can adjust the sensitivity of the detection in the “print settings” options on either the printer or via Studio/app. There’s more information about all that here: Introduction to H2D/H2C Intelligent Detection | Bambu Lab Wiki

Cleaning the cameras may help, but I’ve also had to turn down the clump detection anyway. And often it doesn’t work right even on high sensitivity. But a couple of times it was correct and useful!

I’m not sure if they changed the screens on H2D since that article… on H2C the individual detection features can be controlled separately (vs. all in one “AI detection features”). H2C Screen Operation Guide | Bambu Lab Wiki

Hi Max,

Thanks! Now that the job has finished, I have set the spaghetti detection to low and left the others as is. Interestingly, after the third false alert, the printer carried on and completed the job without any further alerts. I will see how it goes with the same filament on another job.

I have found that even Medium is overly sensitive. I’m currently running it on Low with no issues yet.

I’ve set mine to Low. So far so good.
