I got the combo coming but question on the build plate…

Do they give you the crappy one that needs glue? I use the WhamBam PEX one and I love it. Hoping that the build plate is a glueless one for PLA.

The printer ships with the textured PEI like all of the other Bambu printers.

nah x1 ships with cold plate

I think they ship them randomly. Not all X1C’s come with a cold plate.

I just bought 2 X1C’s, both came with the textured plate. The only one that came with a cool plate was the one I bought a year and a half ago.

I don’t understand why they got rid of the engineering plate, I’ve had better luck with that than anything else over the years.

There are only two build plates avaiable in the bambu lab store for the H2D. Textured PEI plate and smooth PEI plate.

I will see how it works and how good the print sticks to the build plate when i get my first 3D printer. Worst case i can use super-glue. Always works if i have to put two plastic pieces together.

My X1C came with a cold plate. It’s looking a little ragged now. ha

This is not a build plate. You cant print on that. So no building on that plate! This plate is only for calibration!!!

We are talking about build plates here.

Yeah the cold/engineering plate got discontinued. Any newer printer I’ve seen comes with the textured PEI plate.

I liked the engineering plate with the PEI sticker. I have my cold plates saved back so I can put those PEI stickers on them. I’m a little disappointed they got discontinued.

Interestingly enough I’ve found that warping was a little more of a problem (ABS) for certain parts on the Engineering/High temp plate over the newer dual sided Smooth PEI plate. The same gcode is printed and parts were still well adhered but the High temp one deformed off of the magnet.

1-2 years ago maybe, the original cool plate has been discontinued for a while. They come with the textured. For a while they were random but all 5 of my most recent X1Cs came with textured - bought in late 2024-2025

Engineering plate is probably the best plate from BL

But over the time I’ve switched to Satin plate (for anything except ABS/ASA/PA/PC) from honey badger and for a thick CF plate, also from honey badger for engineering materials.
Works like a charm.

I never had any luck with adhesion on textured PEI from BL, even sanding down barely improved anything

The new ones come with textured but Bambu says it can come with other ones too.
