H2D - Filament not being wiped during multi-color prints

Hey all,

I’m having a strange new issue. When I creat muli-color prints, the left and right nozzles aren’t wiped completely during the process. This leads to an inch long filament sticking out and being drug around the print bed while the other head is printing. These accumulate and then stick the model or disrupt other functions.

I’m not certain if the answer is to change out the nozzle wiper mechanics or otherwise. It looks like the nozzles when they wipe are dragging the filament from the purge chute back to the bed, they just aren’t getting knocked off.

All filaments are dry, only using bambu PLA, etc.

Thoughts?

This is since last firmware update.

2000h of print with my h2d never had that issue and since last update Always have this 4-5cm of filament hanging .
Even when print is finished.

Hope next firmware or studio update will return to old purging. This is what also causes those hairs on prime tower lots of users report

Can confirm, since last update, only 1000++ hours on the clock…

Wow this is infuriating lol. I tried various filaments, settings, etc and nothing seems to “fix it”. This is happening on both of my H2D, and only with the right nozzle, and it’s 100% of the time.

I am either going to step down my firmware or have to just use the left nozzle with color swaps.

Does anyone know a “good firmware” where this isn’t happening?

I downgraded to 1.02.00.00, and it seems to work better, but not perfect. I compared gcodes from before and after the downgrade, and in the gcode from the older firmware there are sections of code called “CP TOOLCHANGE WIPE” which is missing from the gcode from the latest version. But strangely, the issue with the new firmware seems to be that the printer starts to extrude too early after a filament change. I don’t think those inch long filaments comes from oozing.

I have the same issue with two-colour printing: each colour has its own dedicated nozzle. It should be possible to print without a purge tower, but it is certainly not. Are there any news or bug fixes for this issue? I tried the whole day hacking into the G-Code with little success. Now back to print with purge tower and dual nozzle. I would love a more optimised software towards multi-nozzle printing. It appears more like “just added a second nozzle,” but not really using all the advantages that come with it.

You should hack in the knowledge that any multi-tool/multi-nozzle machines requires priming tower.

Well, for smaller prints or relatively frequent, quick material changes (only two materials in total), it used to work perfectly fine without a priming tower. Wiping the nozzle and returning to print seem sufficient if the material doesn’t stay unused in the nozzle head for too long.

Why?

To reduce material waste, printing time, and the environmental impact.

+1 on this. I am printing a bed of 2-color parts (all the same), one color per nozzle (AMS on right and HT on left). I have Prime Tower Enabled in Global settings but no prime tower, no nozzle wiping on filament change. So variable stringing/”clingon” on the filament change. My part is an optical diffuser so the translucent part needs to be very clean and even. So I’m discarding about every 3d part at this point.

Are you running in object order instead of layer order? That is usually the reason for not getting a prime tower.

There is also a setting on plate level for the order AFAIK.

Das Problem am H2D “Filament wird bei Mehrfarbendrucken nicht abgewischt” kann ich auch bei der neuesten Beta Firmware bestätigen! Das ist sehr ärgerlich und nervt mich sehr.

I infer that the only way to get the wiping is to print the diffusers one at a time? thankfully the printer is across the hall from my office… I will try one-at-a-time this morning (I’ve been printing beds of 8)
