I didn’t know that. Formatting externally as exfat might be worth the effort. I might even try a huge cluster size, say 256kb.
Those 400MB/s drives are for reading, they are generally 75MB/s at writing.

Is it possible to eject a USB during a print job?
Try pausing the print, go to settings, storage, and see if Eject is an option. If it is, try it. If it won’t let you, don’t take the USB out.
