H2D Left Nozzle Quality Issues

Hey guys,
So I am wondering if any of you guys are having issues with your left nozzle like I am. I just submitted a ticket to Bambu support for this, but just wanted to also discuss this here to see if anyone is having similar issues to me.

The issue I submitted is as follows:

“Hello Bambu Support,
I am having issues printing using the left nozzle. When running the initial nozzle offset calibration and the high precision nozzle offset calibration from the printer, the calibrations pass however, when sending a print from Bambu Studio and I have Nozzle Offset Calibration set to on or auto, the print fails before it starts and I get an error stating that the nozzle offset calibration failed. To try to remedy this so I can print, I have run the nozzle offset calibration and the high precision nozzle offset calibration on the printer, and I have disabled the nozzle offset calibration in Bambu Studio before sending my print to the printer.
This seems to cause major print quality issues with the left nozzle; I cannot get a quality print when I use the left nozzle by itself, or when I use the left nozzle and the right nozzle at the same time. Using the same roll of filament for both the right nozzle and left nozzle, the right nozzle prints just fine but the left nozzle seems to not be working correctly. The left nozzle seems to exhibit massive over extrusion behavior with a ton of blobs. During the high precision nozzle offset calibration, the calibration seems just fine, but during a normal print, I have not successfully been able to print without major quality issues on the left nozzle. I have tried re-calibrating the printer from scratch, calibrated the filament flow ratio and pressure advance, have left the filaments to dry for their recommended times, have tried adjusting the screws for the left nozzle print head, and have replaced the left nozzle and nothing has seemed to work. I have also ensured that there was no filament on the nozzle itself, ensured to clean the calibration area using a microfiber cloth, and have also cleaned off the print head camera with a microfiber and the issues still persist. I feel like I have exhausted all potential recommended fixes and I am at a loss as to what to do. Any help would be most appreciated.”

So yeah, wondering if anyone’s had nozzle offset calibration issues as well or have had issues printing with your left nozzle?

I’m experiencing the same issue while calibrating the offset. Have you received any feedback from support yet?

I have the same issue. Could you show what your first layer from the left nozzle looks like?

I won’t be able to work on this issue for a bit (moving), but support essentially told me to unplug and plug back in the nozzle offset calibration sensor near the back of the printer. They said if that didn’t work they’d send me another one.

I don’t have a good picture unfortunately, but it essentially looked like over extrusion with blobs forming literally everywhere.

Do you have bed leveling set to on instead of auto? I had a print the other day start off really bad. First layer was garbage. Cancelled it, cleared the bed, and resent it. This time I set the bed leveling to on instead of auto and it printed the first layer perfectly.

Have you tried removing the nozzle and putting it back in. Making sure it’s perfectly installed and there’s no small pieces of filament keeping it from going in straight and secure.

I have tried both before and after doing a high precision nozzle offset calibration and no luck.

Yep, tried doing that. I even replaced the nozzle with the spare one provided, checked the nozzle screws, and still no luck. Im able to run a high precision nozzle offset calibration just fine but after doing one of those the left nozzle still prints bad.

Did you check if the filament guide on the left hand side is following the nozzle movement?

Hi, I have the same problem, it always stops at the offset of the left nozzle, maybe a FW bug?

where is the nozzle offset calibration sensor?

Back of the build plate. Next to what looks like a meteal cheese grater.

no picture here either but I’m currently seeing the same problems did you ever find a fix?

Sorry, I’ve been moving and haven’t had time until today to get working on this again. I’m also reaching out to Bambu Support about this, so hopefully they send me a new sensor to see if that fixes the issue. The exact error code I’m running into is 0300-4010 071710.
There is another forum post that alludes to trying to reduce the temperature chamber so I’m going to try that and see what happens.

So replacing the nozzle offset calibration sensor allowed the calibration to go through when calibrating with both the printer and from Bambu Studio. The test print came out a bit rough though; seemed like the nozzles were too close to the bed. I’m running through a full calibration again and plan to try the test print again so we’ll see how this goes.

if you’re in the beta, try the new beta firmware as well if you can, currently there might be a bug with the left nozzle’s bed mesh in beta version (but I’ve done my part and backed down to the production firmware :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll test it out and roll back as needed

definitely report back if you can!
I used this test file:

I’m on latest stable firmware and my left nozzle prints like a dream. Single nozzle [left] and dual nozzle both work wonderfully.

That said - I wonder what the issue is that you’re having / what’s causing it.
