H2D other Build Plates

any news about other Build plates for te H2D?

Just the Smooth PEI from Bambu, as far as additional options. I think 3rd party plates are starting to show up.

BIQU has the CryoGrip Pro Glacier, but frankly I don’t think the Glacier is worth the money. The Frostbite is incredible; the Glacier is kind of meh.

Darkmoon3D is in final testing/production on a number of plates according to their Discord, but they haven’t set a release date yet.

Yes for PLA and PETG you cant beat Frostbite type plates (polyura), I never had a failed first layer in 8000 hours of printing on two printers.

The geco which is similar to frostbite is available now:

Bought it.
@maximit thanks for the info.
I don’t have any experience with Geco plates yet.
I’m also waiting for the BiQu Frostbite.

@BambuLab HELLO BAMBU LAB - where’s the SuperTack???
How can you release a new printer but not provide the accessories in time?

Absolutely. My default plates these days are polyurea—Darkmoon3D’s ICE (the originator of polyurea plates for Bambu Lab printers, and a small US company worth supporting), BIQU’s CryoGrip (original grey) or CryoGrip Pro Frostbite, and kinda the Bambu Cool Plate SuperTack though I’ve heard mixed reviews on those.

Not sure the GECO is polyurea; it’s PLA-only whereas polyurea is PLA or PETG.

I’m also waiting for someone to release a true carbon-fiber plate—Darkmoon3D CFX or Wham Bam CF-TW. Those are wonderful for high-temperature filaments like ASA, when you add a little Vision Miner Nano Polymer Adhesive.

I think geco is polyura and will work with PETG as well, just an oversight on their marketing.

Ive also used the generic grey PEZ and frostbite and both are great. Staying away from supertack as i saw too many problems reported.

Really?
I love this plate!
If I’m worried about a print warping (larger models or if I don’t want a brim), I use SuperTack.
If I don’t want it to stick quite as well, I use FrostBite or sometimes Smooth PEI.

Wall is only 2mm thick and NO brim! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

When it works it works well like other polyura plates, but there have been bad batches. Someone here that owns 3 said 1 was good the other 2 no adhesion.

Hmm, maybe I was lucky then.
But even on the A1m, I had such good adhesion that when I warped an almost full-surface model, it pulled the model and plate off the magnetic bed!

I can only recommend the plate, and I’ve done so several times in my circle of friends.

@EinUrElf … any word from BiQu on when they will release the Frostbite for the H2D?

Unfortunately, I can’t answer that.
I think @maximit is more informed about such matters than I am.

… also bought it.
Let’s see what it can do.

I ordered the BIQU Glacier a few days after preordering the printer. I’ve been using it for everything so far including an lengthy ASA print which has been problematic for me in the past. I like experimenting with different filaments PA/PC/CPE and this plate seems to work pretty well. I’ve also done a few PLA prints and it’s worked great.

EDIT: my normal goto plate on the X1/XL is a wham bam pex plate for everything but PETG and ASA. The old Bambu Lab Engineering plate has always been the best for ASA until the Glacier.

Im not trying to bankrupt you… I will stop posting these for your/your wifes sake! :joy:

But on a serious note, would love to see a comparison after you get them, especially how the bottom layer looks like, shiny or matte, textured or smooth.

Thanks for sharing! I have been reading mixed reviews about the glacier plate, but I have some ASA prints planned as soon as my H2D arrives and your post inspired me to pick one up.

The glacier is awesome for flexibles like tpu and flex pla. I agree though, not worth the money for anything else.

Yes its just okay for PLA, not frostbite level so I had items with small contact area fall over. The only other filament i found it good for is nylon, adhesion with ABS/ASA was not very good.

So funny enough, my glacier plate was just delivered. The texture is different than my glacier plates for my x1-c’s. It’s a bit rougher and doesn’t shine as much. The ones for my x1-c strongly resemble the feel and look of the old Bambu engineering plate. This one sort of feels like a fine grit sandpaper and doesn’t have any shine at all.
