H2D other Build Plates

I made mine by accident when printing TPU on the smooth plate, it lifted and tore a big chunk off the plate when removing my print. I removed the sticker completely on one side which was really hard, a good layer of very sticky glue that only let go with half a liter of acetone and may be a quarter of alcohol for good measure. I now have a nice engineering plate to print TPU without any risk of destroying a plate again

Which ones is it better tuned for? Nylons? From what I’ve read, Glacier is intended as a build plate for “low energy” plastics, such as PPS.

Sorry if this is answered somewhere earlier in the 382 post thread. I have some catching up to do on my reading.

How dare you not read all 400 comments?

My Glacier did just ok with PETG overall. No problems on smaller, easier prints, though I did see some warping on longer ones (which I didn’t see with Super Tack in other printer).
From what I understand, the Glacier is a PPA and nylon bed plate. I don’t print with those materials enough to say exactly which one it’s best tuned for, but with Sunlu Easy PA — the material I’ve tested the most — it worked perfectly.

Also, talking about frostbite, I’m trusting @maximit and decided to get a Frostbite rather than keep waiting for Kdeavi to restock.
For those trying to get one, I managed to get it for $44 after-tax on Amazon after cupom (I just got the last in stock, but they might restock at the same price)

Then the frostbite h2d is quite different than the x1 version as it doesn’t have the sandpaper type effect on it. The difference between the frostbite x1 and the kdeavi plate I have is quite apparent.

Not sure what you mean, but my Kdeavi has an identical pattern to my X1/P1 Frostbite.

I think you might mean the BIQU glacier, right? The glacier does have a texture very much like sandpaper. The glacier and frostbite are different plates though.

If you run your finger across both you will see what I mean. The X1 frostbite is quite rough from the layer below the top plu layer. The kdeavi on the other hand is more or less a “smooth” feeling and feels like any other textures plu plate does.

Hence my comment that if the h2d variants are the same thing then they differ from the x1 frostbite in some capacity.

Maybe they have changed the x1 version since launch (when I got mine) but I have both here and they are very different in terms of surface finish and roughness.

No, not at all. I have both the glacier (which honestly sucks for anything beyond pa and the likes) and frostbite (which is more or less the plate in my x1 for anything PLA/petg)
