H2D Printing on Top of Printed Part

Hi Everyone

We’re modeling a new part (powder guard/reserve) for our Pro Series line of capsule filling machines using the H2D. So far we’ve printed the bottom half of the part with TPU 85A fused inside and throughout, creating a soft rubber base of 4 grommets when the part is resting on the counter (really excited about this).

However, the main thing we’d like to do so we can see if it’s feasible to offer this part as-is to product beta testers. In order to do this, we want to combine the top and bottom pieces by printing the bottom with the TPU grommets directly onto the (bottom of) the top piece. The reason we can’t print it all as one piece already is because the bottom of the top piece must be precisely flat so that it aligns with the top surface of our capsule filling machine (see attached video and/or pictures).

So I figured with the laser engraving and such the H2D is capable of, perhaps it can scan the surface of the print field and allow it to align the bottom of the top piece so that the bottom piece can be printed directly onto it.

This would be much easier and better overall than screwing the bottom and top pieces together like I’m currently doing.

Has anyone tried this and is it possible using Bambu software? Or will it require some serious rigging to get to work?
