H2D UI is confusing with AMS HT and 2 Pro

Can someone or @BambuLab to clarify this for us?

Day one owner of the H2D Combo, we didn’t have the checkmark option for drying filaments.

The logic as soon we remove the PETG filament out of the feeder, the AMS 2 Pro will automatically knows and rotate the spool and if we leave it in the feeder the PETG or any higher temp materials, the AMS will not rotate automatically.

This was a good logic and easy to manage or understand.

Now, today recent firmware updates; I am confused between the top message, it said automatically rotate? Or I need to hit the check box (2 steps process now)?

What is the reason behind this checkbox “Rotate spool when drying” since if this is already automatically rotate?

This is not very intuitive.

I don’t think it was the plan but with this in the AMS-HT you can dry and print at the same time not using the feeder. If it rotates automatically it becomes impossible. Again not sure bambu planned it this way.

Oh, I haven’t thought of that. Anyone has yet to test this?

I have printed while drying from the AMS-HT with PPA-CF. You can’t use the auto feeder for that and need to use the bypass.
You don’t want auto rotate then.

So I don’t have any issue with the current UI.

That would make perfect sense with AMS HT with bypass hole.

I wonder why on the AMS 2 Pro, can’t use the feeder and no bypass.

I haven’t considered it yet, but simply drilling 4 holes in my AMS2 Pro and printing a small TPU plug that can hold a PTFE tube, would allow the same functionality.

And it keeps UI consistent between all AMS types.

Remember you have to trick bambu studio by configuring your source as the external spool, it will become a little hard to follow with multiple sources. You will have to disconnect from the feeder, pass the filament through the hole etc, it would be just a simple extra step to just transfer the spool in the AMS-HT rather than complicate things drilling holes in the AMS cover, add some PTFE tubes etc and put a plug there when you don’t use it.
