H2S - Cutter Module Upgrade - Work without Bird Eye Cam?

This could just be me but from what I’m reading and seeing posted by Bambu Lab Official I’m quite confused…

  1. Can you purchase the “Cutter/Plotter upgrade kit” install/use on the H2S without the bird eye camera being installed?
  • This is most confusing to me. By the looks of it on paper I can purchase and install this kit but will not have the ability to take top view photos of the bed to align or cut accurately?

I just want to know if I can buy and use this kit lol. I don’t see why the bird eye cam would be tied to only the laser when it benefits both functions and potentially even more in the future…

My understanding is you can purchase the upgrade kit but due to the firmware currently calibration of said cutting plate is only functional with the “Laser Module” installed alongside the birds eye camera…

  1. Can you purchase & install the “Bird Eye Camera” on a standalone H2S?

I have the kit without the BE camera and it works without it.

What you can do without the camera

  1. Use the pen feature and it will draw the picture you loaded in bambu suite, muticolor or not, the printer will pause for each color change
  2. Use the cut feature on a monochrome (filled or outline) picture you loaded in bambu suite to cut stickers on sticker material or iron-on transfer on a transfer stick sheet.
  3. Use the print and cut option in bambu suite for sticker or paper, bambu suite will send the picture you loaded to your regular 2D ink or laser printer, print the model and add target points around it. When you lay down the printed sheet on the H2 bed, it will use the toolhead camera (not BE) to align the cut using the target points.
  4. Use a combinaison of pen and cut to draw a picture you loaded in bambu suite then cut around it. Printer will draw the picture and then pause after drawing and ask you to install the blade for the cutting operation.

For cut or draw, you simply align you sheet of paper along the top line (pen or blade line) as well as you can but it can be off a bit, it does not need to be exactly right.

What the BE will add (that what I understand as I of course cannot use it)

  1. if you sheet of paper is way off or if your sheet of paper is not the size it expects from bambu suite it will certainly tell you
  2. If you already have something printed and you want to cut around it, it might be used for that. This will add a nice feature but I don’t know how this will work, may be it just get a rough image for where the models are and then use the toolhead camera to cut exactly around them, not sure.

All in all the BE camera is really not required for most of what you can do with the kit.
