I wanted to post this since the forum often tends to be about things that don’t work, are frustrating, or are broken.
I finally set up my exhaust system over the weekend and printed this (for a lizard) in Overture ASA on a textured PEI plate. This particular task had been sitting in my queue forever and was one of the reasons I got this printer.
I spent a long time looking into people’s experiences and problems to prepare myself for what might go sideways during the process.
Turns out, the only issue that happened was my own fault: the top of the castle was terrible because it had no support. I split everything and put in some connectors, reprinted again, and… completely smooth print, no adhesion issues (over- OR under-) and my supports popped off fine (used 2x layer height for the top z-distance).
I hope this helps other people who have exhaust/venting setups and have been on the fence about ASA. I had less problems with this than I’ve had with silk PLA, to be honest – and the end result is very sturdy!

Thanks for asking! The top and bottom connectors were a very tight fit, so I had to use a rubber mallet to pound the crennelations and get the pieces together! No damage at all.
Agree with you on the frustration aspect. Most people who are happy don’t go on forums to share their positive experiences. Therefore most of the time, you see a lot of negative reactions and that gives an unbalanced view on the quality of a product.
I used Bambu Studio’s cut tool to cut the model below the crennelation and attach connectors (you can see them at the top of the tower). I printed each part separately (“by object”) at 0.24 layer height.
interference fit FTW. Rubber mallets are now part of the 3D owners tool box for this material type. Seriously though, Congrats! I am looking to get more high temp / technical materials printed and am looking for the dimensions for the rear exhaust duct mounting holes. Do you have any details of this or is it a case of measure twice and design a custom adapter/duct piece to fit accordingly?
(edit) I’ve already tried ABS GF which seems to work well, but I’ve also got PA6 CF which I’m itching to get in the machine.
Good work! I’m looking to do something similar to this and the idea of vent holes was circling around my mind as it happens. I was considering just letting the machine breathe, but summers here are hot, and I’ll need to dump the heat outside.
