Has anyone used the Infinity Flow 3D for this purpose?

I have a new H2S that throws the “Check if the external filament spool or filament is stuck” warning every few minutes when I am using the external port to feed a 3kg spool of filament. It is not stuck at all. Rather the extruder motor just can’t handle to the weight/resistance of the 3kg spool to keep the filament loading into the extruder. Some forum members say to use the Infinity Flow 3D S1 Plus Automatic Filament Loader to resolve this issue.

Has anyone used the S1 Plus for this purpose? If so, what is your experience with it? I would hate to spend almost $200 for it not to work for my intended purpose.

If it’s only the rolling resistance that’s triggering that, you could instead just use a spool holder that runs on 608 (or similar) bearings. It will remove a lot of friction from the system.

Thanks. I should have put in my original post that I am using the PolyBox Edition II to hold my spool and it has stainless steel rods that have bearings which the spool rides on. This still isn’t overcoming the friction/resistance.

It’s not the friction that is the issue, it’s the high force required to accelerate the 3kg of filament that is triggering this error.

Do you have the Mellow LLL Plus and can share your experience with it?

I sent Infinity Flow 3D an email yesterday directly asking them if their product would assist the H2S extruder motor pulling filament from a 3kg spool. They said it would indeed do that. Here is their exact email response to me:

Yes — the S1+ does work with the Bambu H2S, and we’ve had many users run it successfully on that platform.

For the specific 3 kg spool issue you’re describing: the S1+ is actually well suited for this. It uses a buffering system with a helper motor, so when the system is active it applies forward pressure on the filament. This significantly reduces (and in most cases nearly eliminates) the resistance seen by the printer’s extruder, even with heavier spools like 3 kg.

I do have it, works very well. You need to make an xh2.54 24v power cable for it, but it’s quite easy to do with parts available from Amazon

Honestly, I have not been happy with the S1’s for my print farm. Save your money.

I purchased 2x S1 Auto Filament Loaders as well as the S1 Upgrade Kit It has been a whole unsatisfactory experience.

I’ve had ongoing product reliability issues and a failed upgrade experience involving the S1 Auto Filament Loaders and the S1 Upgrade Kit sold by Infinity Flow

I purchased two S1 Auto Filament Loaders for use in my print workflow. From the outset, the units have been problematic. The loaders have been unreliable, causing repeated interruptions in print jobs. As a result, I have incurred significant wasted filament, lost print time, and operational disruption.

In an effort to resolve the issues, I purchased the S1 Upgrade Kit. Unfortunately, the upgrade process was extremely complex and not reasonably executable by a typical end user. The process required:

· Physical gear reversals

· Firmware updates

· Technical steps that were not clearly documented

· Repeated troubleshooting attempts across two separate computers

I know there are Youtube videos that make this upgrade seem easy – however, if you are discerning that is because the reviewer was gifted a free upgrade and the positive review is just a scratch back for the free equipment.

Despite multiple attempts, I was unable to complete the upgrade successfully. The process was far more complicated than represented and appears poorly engineered for customer installation.

I feel I have thrown good money after bad attempting to make this system function as intended.

I’ve also purchased a number of the auto filament cutters and these are spotty at best.

what angle is it pulling the filament from or through?

unlike hanging toilet paper on the holder, there is one right way to hang a spool that lessens the resistance and effect of gravity
