Has the A1 mini a microphone?

Hi,
I am curious if the A1 mini has a microphone.
Could be for the noise reduction.

Anyone knows?
Cheers

Not really - it has an acceleration sensor that detects vibration in the printhead. I suppose if you directed a loud enough sound at it to shake the printhead it would pick that up, but it’s not a microphone.

as far as I know it’s a combination of both microphone and accelerometer

no microphone. it use resonance frequency and calculate it.

I think that have one in the camera module ! for noise cancellation on motors

I assume it has a microphone, but I don’t know for sure. However, here is my reasoning why it must have a microphone in addition to the accelerometer.

Understanding Resonance Frequency in System Design

Yes, the system utilizes resonance frequency, which can be measured through various methods. Key components include:

  • Accelerometer: Detects vibrations. The algorithm then mitigates these vibrations, minimizing artifacts.
  • Microphone: Integrated to measure audio resonances. It eliminates these using a similar approach to the vibrations algorithm.

Algorithms for Motor Movements:

  • There are “two” main algorithms:
    1. One for reducing vibration resonance.
    2. Another for mitigating noise resonance.
  • These algorithms function similarly to how noise-canceling headphones work.

Analogy with Loudspeakers:

  • Imagine the case and shelf on which the printer stands as the body of a loudspeaker.
  • It doesn’t matter whether you have an electric coil to produce sound through vibrations or a motor.

How are Vibrations and Sound Similar?

Vibrations and sound are closely related concepts. Both involve the movement of particles and the transfer of energy:

  1. Vibrations: Back-and-forth movements of particles around a central position. Example: a vibrating guitar string.
  2. Sound: The result of vibrations traveling through a medium (air, water, solids). When a guitar string vibrates, it moves the air particles, creating sound waves.

In essence, sound is a type of vibration detectable by our ears. Without vibrations, there would be no sound.

Why Does the Printer Need a Microphone?

  • Some noises won’t be detected by the accelerometer due to their high frequency and intensity, but most people can still hear them.
  • Also some of these noises may not originate from locations where the accelerometer can effectively detect them.
