Hi All,
Thought I would share my experience with Hatchbox PLA PRO+. First run of it was absolute hot garbage. I had good luck with their PETG, so I did the same process with the PLA PRO+ (Iron Red) that I did with their PETG. I did all the flow calibrations on it and it cleared up A LOT of stuff and the prints were substantially better, but still, I had a lot of problems with bed adhesion and on one part I was testing the prints on, it keep lifting up, but ONLY on one side.
So, I washed the plate in hot water/soap… still didn’t stick. Glue stick… still didn’t stick well (IKR?) I couldn’t figure it out, so I just went to town on the settings for this stuff to try to get it to work.
I ended up with
60deg for the bed, 215deg for the nozzle (Range 180-220). I couldn’t get it to stick with a lower bed temp. Anything less than 60 and it would start to come up. I even tried 60 on first layer and 55 on others and it still eventually popped off the bed… just that one piece. So, that solved some of the sticking and then I noticed that I had some warping and layer deformation (in only that one area again…like WTH MAN!)
Ultimately, I got it dialed in with all of these.
60 on bed
215 on nozzle.
.020 K
.98 flow ratio
.1 layer height on first layer
Arachne with INNER / OUTER / INNER
I had to keep default wall width, though. Not much luck less than that. I also had to slow the walls down by 50%ish
I’m still tweaking, but I got a solid print off it.
General feedback, it’s a finicky plastic; and if supports get stuck, it’s more difficult to get them off and might pull walls off if you’re not careful.
I couldn’t find a lot of info on this plastic anywhere so I figured I’d share.
Hope this helps!
