Detailed description of the problem
I can’t get anything to stick to the bed of the printer. It’s not just the above filament it’s pretty much everything that my wife and I try. I’ve tried multiple heating settings and speed settings. I have tried to calibrate flow dynamics and flow rate for the filament.
I have a few GIFs made where the prints are just failing randomly. I can also hear what sounds like the extruder rubbing the parts when its printing but idk if it’s supposed to sound like that. I have even turned the printer on silent mode.
I’m thinking about switching out the extra hot end that bambu provided with the printer but I am honestly not sure what I should do. I haven’t had the printer for that long so this is semi-frustrating to say the least.
The most common issue with bed adhesion is a dirty build plate. Oils from your fingers can get transferred to the plate and spread around, causing poor adhesion issues. The best way to fix this is to thoroughly wash the build plate under hot water and scrub with dish soap. Do this a couple of times and rinse until water sheets off of the plate. Do NOT touch the plate with your fingers around the printing areas. Give that a shot and you should be good to go.
I read this in other places. It isn’t the problem I am having. I’ve cleaned the plate multiple times because of the posts I had ran across. I even tried using some Nitrile gloves I had from when I was using a resin 3d printer (fresh new pack). the Nozzle is pulling the filament it’s not even getting the chance to stick to the build plate yet.
I think I see the problem after looking at your GIFs … You have your build plate installed incorrectly. Kind of surprised your printer hasn’t been telling you that it can’t recognize the plate.
You need to turn your build plate 90 degrees and have the tab facing the BACK.
The nozzle uses that tab to clean the tip of the nozzle before doing a bed level by scraping the tip back and forth across that back tab. The leveling process taps the tip of the nozzle of the bed to determine it’s levelness and by not cleaning the nozzle, it’s going to be off.
Also double check you have the right build plate selected in the slicer.
Thank you so much. this had been trying me absolutely insane. I promise i’m not “that” dumb. I am a developer in software so my brain has already turned to mush by the time I get to play with the 3d printer.
No problem. You were already on the right path by reading up and making sure your build plate was clean. Sometimes it’s the simple things we overlook. Happy printing!
Just one other thing to watch out for on the P series is that as you figured out, the printer doesn’t check that the correct plate is installed like the x series. This means that it is also important to make sure that when you sliced the file you selected “textured plate” as this adds a little bit of extra “squish” for the plate and uses the correct heat settings. If you print a file sliced for say a cool plate or smooth plate will cause adhesion problems if your used a textured plate.
