Heated AMS to double as dryer?

Are there future plans to add some kind of heating element to the AMS so it can dry filament when you’re not printing? It also seems like pre-warming the filaments on the spool would reduce the temperature shift the filament experiences when it reaches the nozzle?

Hi @kfsone,

A solution is available since 28/06:

It isn’t official, but the designer has a solid reputation (Hydra designer) recognised by the Bambu Lab team. The project seems robust, and I would only advise caution if you’re not experienced with DIY stuff and are comfortable with the AMS setup.

Oh, that’s a rehousing of the AMS unit? Very interesting. If (awh, c’mon: when :sparkles:) I get a second unit I’ll be willing to try this out on the first.

I agree.
I also thought about a second unit just because of this design. It almost wholly fulfils my wishlist (I would like a lower cost). It is still new, so it is not fair to do a cost assessment, as the kits are sold out, and I am unsure how I can get the playmaker heater without the dry box, at least in the EU.

At a time when the fuzz is about a new gen of printers, the @humebeam solution seems perfect, ensuring that current AMS owners will have the option to upgrade their system.

Yes the downside is the PolyDryers are a bit difficult to get hold of at the moment.
