Help! Filament stuck to nozzle and around it

Somehow during a print yesterday the nozzle was stuck on filament, pulled it off the plate, and then it was stuck all around it. I’m having a hard time removing it from the nozzle, I ordered a new one so that should be solved.

Not sure though how to remove all the filament stuck on the parts around the nozzle. Also do I need to get the filament to retract or what should I do there?

Any suggestions appreciated and thanks in advance!

what I have done is heat the nozzle up. then I use pliers to remove as much excess plastic as possible then I use a brass brush to scrub off the rest of the plastic.

Thank you, will try that!

If you turn on the maintenance toggle, this allows you to heat up the nozzle to a temperature to ease the removal with pliers or tweezers etc. CAUTION don’t get your fingers near it, it will burn and blister you so will the hot plastic !!!

thanks for pointing out that feature, that will be handy for me some time in the future.

Just for future reference I had same problem and I used a cheap “jet” gas lighter from Amazon to localise the heat and used a toothpick on the softened pla to remove it when it was heated. :+1::+1:

Put the printer into maintenance mode in the settings, and this will allow you to turn up the heat on the nozzle. Once at say 220, remove the nozzle and you will be able to remove the excess filament from the rest of the head. I had the same problem and did this.
