I am new to 3d printing. I just sliced and printed my first pieces. The top of each part is tapered and they came out looking terrible. I printed using pa6-cf the taper is about 7 degrees. What settings do i need to change in bambu studio to smooth out the tapers?
Can you show images? I am guessing it’s a cooling issue, try a lower layer height or slower overhang speed
Welcome to the forum.
By “looking terrible” I assume you are referring to the “stairsteping” that happens at low angles.
Bambu has a good wiki article on how to address this using variable layer height.
I don’t know but starting with Nylon might not be the best idea…
Learn with PLA and PETG as otherwise you probably waste a lot of costly filament.
I take it you are using a hardened steel hotend…
Apart from that I join the others here and say some pics would help to make judgement on how bad things are and what the causes might be…
I needed to use the nylon for a strength test. I used a 95 peecent infill then beat the hell out of it with a hammer. Passed with flying colors. I will take pics when i ger to work tomorrow. Will.also try the suggestions in the wiki. Thanks for the tips.
For prints that taper to a point, it is really important that you have accurately calibrated flow, pressure advance, and temperature. This requires you to manually calibrate.
Nylon is hydrophilic and must be thoroughly dried to print successfully/cleanly.
If the taper is really tall/pointy, in higher layers the print is more easily deflected by the loads generated as the nozzle pulls the filament extrusion around the shape of the layer (which is why flow calibration is critical). So you also need to slow down for finely tapered features.
I messed with the layer height, speed and flow today. The parts came out looking good. Thanks for the tips.
