Can you guys offer suggestions to get this model to print better ? I know scaling up will help
The model came from architect
I can do basic edits in tinker cad for example. But im not in a position to heavily modify the stl
This is not a paid project , its a family members house and just a cool project for them
Ideally I’d like to avoid supports since we want to see interior features and removing supports from interior would be painful if not impossible
I set the printer to.
0.16 for this one
Any ideas ?
You’re going to need to use support for the roof overhangs. If you enable “support from build plate only” it won’t put support inside the model. Tree supports would be good for supporting the windows and door areas.
Another option would be to cut the model at each “Floor” so the support can be removed. Then glue each floor together.

Great ideas - I have attempted to slice the model by floor and that has been challenging - First step is to get a presentable whole model
then try the slices
This was sliced already since the model included the foundation that we didnt need
I ended up with paper thin floor on model so Ill try to take it into tinkercad and as a 1 mm base … maybe
Im also wondering if increasing wall thickness will help
again thanks SO much for the ideas - keep em coming
You can slice (cut) via Bambu Studio.
Here is the link to the wiki page.

Printing squares like that is difficult for the 3d printer. You want to be printing DIAMONDS.
Try this:
- In Bambu Studio, rotate the model by 45 degrees
- Click ‘Cut’, click ‘Perform cut’
- Click the ‘Auto Orientation’ button
- Slice without supports, print and pray it works.

I added the base which helped a lot
this is scaled up about 30% from the older images above
flat on the build plate there isnt a lot of room to scale up from here
Diamond is a Great idea - worth a try
would love to not have to clean supports
And it would let me scale it up some more to make the finer details sturdier and more likely to render
One of the issues we have been having is most of the small details just were too fine to be rendered. The stairs in the middle of the model are sorta half there. The balconies and supports are gone.
Here is what my last attempt looked like after significant support and spaghetti cleanup. I had changed the Quality down to .16 - I’m thinking about reversing it to .24, would that help print the finer details sturdier ?
other settings that would help ?
your on edge recommendation improved a test
AND after staring at this for a while I realized I can make the base thicker and CUT the model with a dove tail so that when its done they owner can see the inside of the model by separating the sides - which is MUCH easier than splitting the model by floor
Dovetails mean I do have to use supports again. BUT since I have better access to the middle, the support should be easier to remove
Printing full size now
THANKS

Very cool! I’m glad you found a way forward. I agree that having a way to open the model for the viewer is a nice benefit of printing this way, in addition to it printing better overall. Cheers
