So bought this file from a patreon and it was broken from the start , eye outlines were missing, spider was set too low, etc couldnt paint it under “objects” so reached out to designer he was rude and of no help. so i filed for payment dispute with paypal because i paid for the multicolor file and he denied it was broken…even though he states on his page he has a fix but it was “locked” unless you pay $5…
After accusing me of “not knowing how to paint” awhile he finally gave in and told me to import to 3d builder then export as stl or obj then split to parts in BS, which i did and it finally worked…kind of…
i was finally able to paint it and it looked great, so i cancelled my payment dispute
but then whenever i slice it no matter what i do it loses all the tiny details (spider legs, bad eye outlines, some of the black lines) tried .12 layers up to .20 layers, tried arachne walls and classic walls
anyone have these issues or know of a fix? i really dont want ot go through and manually paint it, nut may be the only way to get it to work unless you all can help, thanks
Assuming you haven’t already, you could try changing the wall generation to Arachne in the quality tab of the settings for the print. might help with those small details.
Yeah as stated above I tried .12 layers I even tried .08 at one point nothing seemed to help I think it’s just a broken file or maybe I’ll try a rollback version of bamboo Studio but thank you
Sorry, I missed that. That’s only one coordinate though, Z. X&Y can be helped by a smaller nozzle. But the relative size doesn’t really support that, imo.
I think it might just be ‘resolution’, the default can hide very fine detail if I’m thinking of the correct setting that is. But I believe when that issue is present it even shows in the preview tab. And this is somewhat problematic due to the warning you are receiving about high poly model.
good points, I will try to slice with the .2 hotend, but i have scaled this to 300% and still seems messed up, my other ducks seem to pick up pretty fine details, odd
The only thing that makes sense is that the areas with issue aren’t a full line width or even a good fraction of one.
No idea how painting works in this detailed manner, you certainly dont want the thinnest layer of black in the webbing, you want a half mil or more I would think. If the webbing is a ‘part’ / ‘object’ then you could use a mode of painting to fill it. So just not sure what surface painting does but certainly they (bambu) thought of that.
Also, was a bit confused by first post, the beginning says you stopped payment then got the painting fixed so you canceled that. Then at the end you say you would hate to have to paint it, must be that you got the original designers $5 fix for free? Just that alone makes me think its the model heh.
Surely someone with more experience here will happen along to help, but who knows when. Shame, I suppose its just not ‘right’ to share such a file to get help with it.
well only thing i could do to get it to work was with the .2mm hotend i had to angle it to cut the filament changes in half ugh 1d 15hr on the A1 for one damn duck lol once i verify it will work i will print a plate on one of my P series just dont want first plate to be full of fails
It’s amazing what people spend money on. If you have something like this and want to print it properly, modifiers should be included with the model and preferably a 3MF where everything is arranged together. Modifiers to which you assign the colour are particularly helpful for things that are difficult to paint in the slicer.
What I don’t understand is the approach. I sell a model that I know people will have a problem with. Then at some point I come up with some solution that’s probably a crutch and charge again 5 on top. It’s annoying how black sheep undermine the 3D printing community and ensure that bad experiences are associated with 3D printing.
