Help with cutting object with text

I am trying to create some flush text for a keychain.

I have created a flat cylinder.
Added my embedded text (three lines) and changed filament color
When I got to cut my object it changes my object to one color with no option to change the text back to a different color (because it creates one single object).

How can I fix this??

Is there a reason you need to cut your model? If you must do so, can you add the text afterwards?

Yes, I’m cutting it to flip it and create flush text on the plate. I can’t add the text after. This has worked fine in version 1.7.7.89 and earlier. Does not work now.
