Help with mutlicoloured light box not adhering

I am trying to print two different light boxes for a family member, but both times the separate colors will not adhere to each other. Never run into the issue before, and would like to know how to fix it. Never changed any of the original settings of the stl file.

You can try arachne walls which gives them some randomness that ties the color edges to each other better but it’s a common problem.

What I do in my lightboxes is add a couple of layers of white behind the image (inside the lightbox) which ties all the pieces together and adds a lot of strength.

You may be able to do that in Studio with modifiers (I can’t tell you it’s possible or how to do it - never done it), but if it’s a circle design, you can draw up a 0.4 mm thick circle (assuming 0.2mm layer height) that fills the lightbox frame and use Studio’s place face to get it to set on the design. Print that in white so the light can get through.

But that edge to edge bond is poor without a little help.

The issue could be related to layer adhesion or material compatibility. Try adjusting your printer’s temperature settings slightly higher and ensure the colors/materials are compatible. If the problem persists, check for potential gaps in the STL file that could affect adhesion.

The default wall is Arachne. I’m not sure how to add a couple of layers of white. I know on another print I did, it had that feature, and it worked perfect. Thank you for the reply.

Yep, I don’t know how to add a couple of layers of white to existing designs either but there probably is a way.

I printed some lightboxes from MW for some neighbor kids and first thing they did was hug them because they liked the designs. Both crushed in the designs - minor but broken. That’s when I started making my own boxes with the white layers to tie all the pieces together. I also add white inside the back of the lightbox to increase brightness.

It’s too bad more don’t do it to strengthen their designs. I don’t print them if they aren’t reinforced. Sad kids drive home that lightboxes need reinforcement behind the design.

I agree. I made two Toronto Maple Leaf light boxes before the Pepsi ones, and that design had the layer of white in behind. It also helps brighten it up when the light shines through.
