This is the 4th time I’ve tried to print the Crib-Man board. Originally I thought this problem was from the corners not sticking, and it was worse then. But this is with the new super-stick plate, and it stuck. Why is the black surface coming out rough. These are the two back-most corners (while inside the printer). The two front corners are not nearly this bad:
Not 100% but may be damp filament?
I don’t think so. It’s PLA that’s been kept at 10% in the AMS. And its only the back corners.
If it is dry filament and good surface adhesion, it could be that warping may be lifting the build plate off the heat bed in the corners.
Printing warm and at reduced layer height (not 1st layer) could help a bit.
That theory makes sense. The board is very close to the back edge compared to the front edge of the plate. I’ll try that. I wonder if more dense infill would help also? I’m getting tired of wasting filament testing things. Maybe I should keep the top on and the door closed to keep the whole chamber more uniform in temp?
Which printer are you using as you didn’t supply any related information about your environment.
Regarding warping, this is a bit of a double edged sword. Once cool, the print will be stronger. But while printing, there’s more material shrinking (which is causing warping).
I had a lot of issues with the original PETG warping and curling. I found the most effective way to combat that was to decrease the amount of heat put into the print per layer as it is a cubic relationship. Halve the layer height => reduce heat input per layer by a factor 8. Unfortunately, it does slow down printing quite a bit. Still, once you have a sturdy base (say 4-5 cm), you could try increasing layer height again for higher prints regarding warping (curling will still happen though).
It is the X1C printer. 25 character minimum…argh
Thanks. I’m going to use thinner layers. I found that many people report the plate lifting off the bed with large prints, and there clamps just for this purpose. I’m going to print some of these and try them, as well: Bed Clamps (low profile) for Bambu Lab X1/P1P by Blind Maker | Download free STL model | Printables.com
