HMS_0500_0300_0001_0002 toolhead error

P1S with about 1000 hrs printing on it.
just stopped mid print. wrote it off as a failed print…restarted and im now getting HMS_0500_0300_0001_0002 error. tried everything in the wiki; no dice.
i’ve opened a support ticket…anything to try in the interim?

i’ve also reseated every cable on the toolhead. removed rear panel and checked all connections there.

printer will power up…AMS lights will blink double red…i’m being prompted to updated firmware (attempts to update will fail)…and the chamber fan just seems to spin at 100%.

im unable to turn that fan off/on…front panel seems to think the fan is off…

any help is appreciated!

You may be chasing that one for a bit.

Have you tried updating through Handy? Try that first.

I’d open a ticket, and in the meantime check all connections to the boad on the toolhead. Fan, part fan, thermistor, and heater.

update fails via handy as well…

the strange thing to me is when i power on the printer, fan inside fires up to 100% (super loud) despite the app/panel/etc all showing the fan off

something def went south on me…

machine assitant in handy app alerts
“The toolhead is malfunctioning. Please restart the device.”

restarting does nothing.

for anyone else battling this now or in the future…so far BL support has responded … pretty much asked for pics of the cable connections on the tool head…and suggested i run thru the wiki (which i did before opening a ticket).

more updates to come?

they have a script they have to run through. The only thing that will drive you nuts is the time difference. Is what it is.

Hi Justin,
I have the exact same problem. It happened once and I changed the toolhead cable. printed fine for a while after that and now I get the exact same symptoms you have: aux fan 100% and the same error. Also triple checked all the connectors, no luck

So support responded with the suggestion to remove the connectors from both sides of the toolhead, which I did. In that process I also removed the complete board on the back of the toolhead and reseated the toolhead cable connector. I don’t know which of that did it, but it looks like it’s working again!

I’ve tried everything in this Theard and i can’t get mine to work sad part mines fresh out of the box

I had a “Fresh out of the box” P1S that had problems after two very short print-time prints started throwing a code that was bogus. After replacing every single board, gear, cable, front cover of toolhead I got a message from Bambu Lab telling me they were going to call my machine a DOA and were going to ship me another P1S as a replacement. If you get to that point, hopefully you still have the original box and padding because that can impact how quickly you can exchange printers.
As was already mentioned, Bambu Lab has a process they follow to get to whatever the resolution may be. I would also note that I only got ONE email per day from Tech Support. It did not matter if I had the answer in hand. I had already determined their message would land in my email between 2PM - 4PM so I would reply to their email within a minute of it hitting my inbox but as far as them responding a second time in a given day, nope. I got a single “Do this” per day so had to wait 24 hours for next message from Bambu. That really drags out the process.
Another thing to note regarding the return process. Bambu Lab will want to inspect your machine before they will ship a replacement. That is to confirm that the owner didn’t do something to void the warranty.

One last thing. Those ribbon cables are tiny and delicate. Tweezers, forceps, a magnifying glass are helpful.
The filament detection ribbon cable and the cable that goes between front of toolhead to rear of toolhead especially so.

I did keep everything pretty much threw it in the box as i took it off i did extensive research last night someone had the exact code and symptoms and replaced the mc and it fixed it so hopefully its a faulty board thats wild that you replaced pretty much everything and it still didnt fix it

I did want to add i did talk with bambu last night according to them the th board should have a green light and mine dosent so i just orded the th the cable that leads to the mc and the mcboard (ill just eat the cost if it fixes my issue)

You created another thread that we have explained to you that details are needed to help you. You still have not supplied anything close to detail to get help.

It was something that was easily proved/disproved. The fault was “The front cover of toolhead has fallen off” which a look at the toolhead said that was bogus. I bet I took that toolhead apart and rebuilt it a dozen times before Bambu Lab tech support said “DOA, let’s swap machines”.

One thing to always be mindful of is that software has bugs. I’m not saying your problem is a bug. Another very important thing to note about a software bug is that it quite often results in what programmers refer to as “Unexpected Behavior.” I fired up Bambu Studio a couple of hours ago and was immediately confronted with the need to install a bug fix update. The update described the behavior, which I have not experienced so far but I still did the update.
The thing about Unexpected Behavior is that you have to consider the possibility that the message you get may not be the problem.
In my case, the Toolhead Front Cover has fallen off was the unexpected behavior. I took tape and taped the front cover to the center cover such that the front cover wasn’t budging. So my printer was demonstrating unexpected behavior that manifested itself as a bogus fault code.
