Hobby Lobby now stocks 3D Filament?

This is quite a surprise. I don’t generally shop there. To be candid, their demographic is more of the “Martha Stewart” demographic - home “craftsy-style” stuff made from yarn and oaktag paper. But from time to time, if I need model paint or specialty paper stock, they are really the only game in town.

What surprised me is that their pricing is competitive with Amazon ($13–$20), and on average about 40% lower than Bambu filament - with the added benefit of being on the shelf.

Outside of Staples.com who does NOT stock filament in their stores, this is the first nationwide “general” retailer with over 1,000 locations that I know of stepping into this market. How long before we start to see this at a Target or Walmart store?

So far, two YouTubers have added positive comments, and since Hobby Lobby doesn’t market to the techie crowd, these are unsponsored videos. The reviews were generally positive, and the bonus is that they are on plastic AMS-friendly spools.

Imagine a world where one didn’t have to deal with Bambu Lab for filament and where one could run down to the local store to get supplies and examine them before you buy? No crushed boxes, no need to argue with customer service over weeks showing photos of damage and no arguing over showing photos of proof that you doorstep was missing a delivery. I know… crazy talk!!!:grin:

It’s very hobby lobby of them to be peddling unbranded stuff lol

I continue to wait for a real retailer.

They’re the exact kind of sleaze I think of when I think of some american business selling whitelabeled QA-rejected ${product} lol. The nylon trimmer line probably can be trusted to have better dimensional accuracy

This filament is surprisingly good. I put a small step below Sunlu or Elegoo.

I have only printed 2 kg of the basic black (so I can not really speak to the color quality). I can say that it is not trash to ignore. Given the amount of options available and stock issues in stores, I much rather go to amazon prime. I much rather know I am going to get something than go to a store with all the stock picked clean.

One big complaint. The spools that they come on are terrible. I thought we were passed non reusable plastic spools. I would have much rather them used cardboard.

I think Best Buy needs to step up their game if Hobby Lobby is doing it.

I’m still waiting for bambu to sell abs-gf as a refill instead of with a plastic spool.

It is as generic as you can make it. This is the white bread of filaments.
