I’m getting sporadic tiny holes after ironing on my prints. They just started a few days ago. I’m running the same profile that a had a ton of good prints with. It’s happening with 3 different types of PLA. I’ve done all of the maintenance and it still is happening. I ran flow calibration on each filament, again with no success. Has anyone else run into this with their X1C? I have attached pictures of bad prints and good prints to better illustrate the problem. I downgraded Bambu studio from 1.7.3.50 to 1.7.1.62 (no improvement). I downgraded firmware from 1.06.01 to 1.06.00 (no improvement). The changed settings in the attempt to fix the issue. I reduced top surface line width from 0.34 to 0.25. I increased top shell thickness from 0.8 to 1.2 (8 layers). I reduced internal solid infill speed from 350 to 250 and top surface speed from 200 to 100. There has been slight improvement, but nothing like it was previously. I am very frustrated. I’ve had my X1C for several months and it has been amazing until this happened. My business is really suffering and I have burned through a bunch of filament. Any help would be appreciated. If any further information is needed, just let me know.
Swap on a new hot-end and see if that makes a difference. Nozzles wear and their flow characteristics degrade.
looks deeper than 1 layer. You sure it was from ironing?
Have you tried printing with ironing turned off on a small sample to see if the print has the same artifacts? Also zoom in on these areas in the slicer to see are they showing up there, as it could be an issue with the design file.
I had the same issue. I turned off the ironing and it fixed the issue. The top surfaces were all around smoother with out ironing. The last time I tried this was a couple of firmware and software updates ago. I also did tried this with a new nozzle (the machine as new) and different patterns, speeds, flow, and spacing settings.
Good bet would be if nothing else has changed, either the filament has gotten wet or the nozzle has an obstruction.
I ran the design without ironing and it looked worse. I dried the filament and still had the issue. The holes only seem to be on the top layer only. The base seems to print well. I ran some filament cleaner through the hot end as part of the maintenance before the defect pictures were taken. I may try some cold pulls and then run the filament cleaner again.
