Hot end settings H2C

I’m new to Bambu and have found an issue with Bambu Studio. I have discovered that you don’t have full control over every aspect of the printer when setting it up for a print. It wasn’t until I started to print a job. I went out to look at the first layer print to see if it was going it stick. I then noticed the nozzle temp was 255c and I tried to cancel it but couldn’t so I let it continue.

Temperature settings in Bambu Lab good so it could be full set by computer

Was this while the nozzle was about to purge? Nozzles purge at a higher than print temperature. This is expected behavior.

If you truly want control over every aspect of the printer, Bambu is not the printer company for you.

That said, there is a lot of additional control capability in the printer and filament profile menus, including modifying temperature for first and subsequent layers, and modifying gcode for purge and other activities.

BUT - for 99.9% of users and 99.9% of prints, this is never necessary. The stock system generally works well without the need to make changes. I’d encourage you to let the printer do what it’s doing, there’s generally a reason behind all of it’s behaviors.

Last time I checked (which admittedly was ages ago), the 255°C purge temp was part of the Start gcode. If that is still the case, it is modifiable. But I’d advise against changing a working system…

:crossed_fingers: & :four_leaf_clover:

The whole print was printed at a temperature of 255c which is 5c above what manufacturers temperature range for PETG. This results in pimples and filament clumps forming around the nozzle.

I want do a temperature test print for PETG, so I need to adjust the temperature setting at set layer height during the slicing process.

All you have to do is adjust the temperature in the filament profile in Bambu Studio.

Or choose the right filament profile in the first place.

You can also adjust the nozzle temp mid-print from the printer.

Everything you asked to do is possible. You can learn about all of the features here.

For example:

B. Running a Temperature Test (Changing Temp at Set Layer Height)

You do not need an external tool to slice a temperature tower—Bambu Studio supports this natively in two ways:

  • Method 1: Built-in Calibration Tool (Easiest)

    • Click the Calibration tab at the top of Bambu Studio.

    • Select Temperature Tower. Studio will automatically generate a temperature calibration model pre-configured with layer-by-layer temp changes.

Method 2: Manual Custom G-code at Layer Height

  1. Slice your model and go to the Preview tab.

  2. Drag the vertical layer height slider on the far right to the layer height where you want the temperature to change.

  3. Right-click the + icon on the slider and select Add Custom G-code.

  4. Enter the command to set the nozzle temperature:

    • M104 S240 (sets nozzle temperature to 240°C without pausing)

    • M109 S240 (sets temperature to 240°C and waits until it reaches target before continuing)

it i tried to change the temp during the print. It would not allow me to do so. It said “you can’t change the temperature while printing”. I want to print a temperature test tower.
