Hotend clog

Btw, this is for the A1 mini

I got the .2 nozzle for Christmas recently and wanted to try it with my new fancy glow in the dark PLA, big mistake. I didn’t know it was so brittle and it must have broken inside. I swapped out the hotend to check it wasn’t the extruder and it definitely isn’t, thank god, my printer is working fine with my stock .4 and printed the glow in the dark filament great with that.

I’m just wondering, where do I go from here? There’s no exposed filament as it broke off quite deep into the hotend. I think I saw someone say something about heating up the nozzle cleaning tool and sticking it in but I’m, quite frankly, a bit of a wuss when it comes to hot stuff and melting materials (glue-gun induced phobia lmao) and want to make sure I’m doing everything right.

Thanks to anyone who replies, sorry to anyone who thinks this is obvious.

If you read the product page for the glow in the dark filament, it shows that it’s not recommended for 0.2 nozzles. The glow in the dark particles can cause clogs in the small 0.2 size nozzle.

Fortunately Bambu Labs has a wiki that covers the process for removing clogs from the nozzle A1 mini Nozzle Unclogging Guide | Bambu Lab Wiki

Wonderful, thank you! I should’ve checked but I didn’t get bambu glow in the dark, plus I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little giddy with excitement over my new “toys” when I tried it out.
Does the .2 nozzle clog alot? Basically do I need to get used to unclogging it or is this just a one off because of a bad filament/nozzle combo

It shouldn’t clog as long as you stay away from filaments that have some kind of filler like glow in the dark, carbon fiber, or glass.

There are other things that can clog nozzles such as heat creep or wet filament, but you probably won’t run into heat creep since the A1 mini is open air. Only time you may run into wet filament is with PETG or TPU since those two are more hygroscopic than PLA. Basically you’ll be fine as long as you follow manufacturer recommendations for your filament.
