I am using a P1S with AMS. When I print with multiple filaments, it’s never for mixing colors but always to use support of the other type (PETG vs. PLA, using Bambu PETG and generic PLA, in case that matters).
And for that, I always want the max purging setting (900) in the “Purging volumes” used.
But after I replace filaments, I need to set these values again – if I forget, they get reset, and I get a failed print due to bad bonding in the layers where both types are used.
I rather have Bambu Studio always default to 900 or any filament mix and then dial it down if I actually don’t need it (like a rare case of multi-color printing). That way, if I forget, the worst that happens is a bit of extra waste instead of an entire failed print.
So, is there a way to alter these defaults? I’m a software developer, so if there’s some way to do it with a bit more in-depth hacking, I can handle that probably, too.
Also: While one gets shown a link to a Wiki page when mixing PLA and PETG, that page does not even suggest to increase the purging volume to resolve the issue I keep running into. Yet, there are plenty of forum posts that address this issue that way. As if Bambu doesn’t want to admit that one needs to waste more when mixing these types, because they surely must be aware of this, right?
