How come the textured PEI plate isn't smooth on one side?

I was wondering why the two-sided PEI plate for the A1 mini isn’t smooth on one side. Given it’s two sided, it would be nice to have the option to just flip the plate to select between either smooth or textured. I couldn’t come up with a heat-transfer related reason given that if one side was smooth, heat transfer, if anything, would be improved over the current plate.

Smooth plates are generally done with stickers. Textured plates are done by powder-coating.
From what I’ve seen, pretty much everyone who makes textured PEI plates does the texture on both sides. I’m guessing that the powder coating process works best when both sides are done.

One thing that i miss so much is to have different density on each side. I am not sure but the original plate has the same density on both sides right ? I find it cool but a little coarse for some uses. Would love to have a finer one as an option.

Cool. I have one of those on my Prusa, but this is textured / Smooth. It would be nice if the original textured one has two densities one different on each side. But this is something that probably exist from a third party.

I’m so sorry to barge in on a different topic like this but I am a new user and my mini failed out of the back, support tickets are not anwered and I am not allow to post my own topic. Can’t see any user friendliness with Bambu at the moment :frowning:

Is there anyone who can show me what the z axis calibration is supposed to look like? It’s the first calibaration step and it fails, even though the bar with the hotend goes all the way down to the print bed. When it touches the bed instead of being calibrated it says it failed. Any help at all would be very very welcome.

Here is what my calibration looks like (printer has never been used, this is the first step i tried)
Of course, media links are not allow, that would be too helpful. so I have a movie on imgur dot com slash a slash 4qfYgAs

You might have trapped the toolhead with the purge wiper when you installed it. Can you slowly/gently move the tool head to the middle of the x axis using your hand? If not uninstall the purge wiper, scoot the tool head over, then reinstall it.

If this does not solve the issue, fwiw, support tickets might take a day or two to answer, but in my experience Bambu support has always been super helpful. Just be patient with the process.
