How do you lubricate the rail bearings?

I read this page:

https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/h2/maintenance/period-maintenance

it only describes cleaning and applying oil to the rails themselves (presumably to prevent rust after removing the protective oil).

How do the bearings themselves get lubricated?

Rolling through the oil…25

I hope that is a joke answer.

They don’t need lube there self lubricating normally

OK now I know you are joking, but thanks.

I haven’t looked yet… are they sealed bearings? If they are then you won’t be lubricating them.

If they’re recirculating guideway bearings, they are preloaded with lube, and may not require relube on the machine. Usually relube is via a zerk on one end of bearing block.

Oil on the rails (guideways) is just to protect from corrosion due to any humidity, usually. The bearing contact faces will remain lubed in normal operation by the bearing blocks.

For the rod guides, like the instructions say. Wipe clean first.

Edit: dear God that cleaning instructions for H2D is an actual nightmare if using the laser. 95 percent less work for us non-laser folks :call_me_hand:

There are many types of self-lubricating sleeve bearings that require no or very little lubrication in use. Some like oillite are a bronze sintered material impregnated with oil, others are teflon lined/impregnated matrixes. Modern technology at work.

There are, but it’s none of those.
