How does the AMS 2 Pro handle cardboard spools?

I know the original AMS unless has issues with cardboard spools, has anyone tested them in the new units?

The motors seem more powerful. I think maybe that helps with out of round spool motivation.

Some visual documentation. This particular Elegoo spool gave me some trouble on an original AMS. Mostly with rewinding poorly. AMS 2 Pro has been very reliable with tight winding so far.

To keep cardboard from deteriorating and leaving particles, and for improving roller grip, I definitely recommend spool adapters like these:

Edit - is there a better way to share videos easily? If anyone has trouble with the iCloud links I can upload to YouTube.

it works , I was expecting it could have some problems so I can design a AMS saver for it, lol

but I haven’t had any issues with any spools tested

Wow, even with a spool that warped (vacuum bag I assume?) it handled it great. That’s fantastic news, thanks for the videos!

Edit: unlisted YouTube videos would work but I was able to view the iCloud ones just fine

While some cardboard spools might work, especially ones with plastic sealed edges, its still a good idea to print some roller rings to make sure they roll more consistently. Also with many load/unload cycles the cardboard can deteriorate and make a mess inside the AMS and clog the gears etc, better safe then sorry. And the rings are reusable after all, you only need a few for each filament brand.
