How many fans does the X1 have?

Hi

I love my Bambulab X1 printer, but the sound level has always been horrible, like a jet engine. Now that my warranty ended, I’m willing to do a few mods.

I’m not talking about the noise of the axis. This has been improved a lot with the noise cancelling update for the motors.

I’m talking about the fans. And here is the question: how many are there?
I thought there are four:

  1. Part fan (in the head)
  2. Auxiliary fan (on the left side)
  3. Chamber fan (on the back side)
  4. Board fan, hidden, you can not control

Therefore, I exchanged the board fan with a Noctua 40x40x20: Bambu Lab MC Control Board Fan Noctua Upgrade by Brody | Download free STL model | Printables.com

This mod worked great, but even when I turn off the part fan, auxiliary fan and chamber fan (0% in the HMI), the X1 sometimes sounds like a jet engine.

Is there any other fan I missed?

Yes, the head also has a fan for the cold side of the hotend. that should turn off when the nozzle temperature drops below 50°C, could also be 40°C.

When exchanging fans, You should be very careful that the new fan has the same air throughput. Within the same size, there are many different power levels available. You don’t want the new fan to move only 25% of the stock fan. But there are fans available that are much quieter at the same power.

Ok. Anyone who did a mod for the aux fan (adding a 2nd one in parallel)?
