How many lumens is optimal for spaghetti detection on the X1C?

Anyone know? I’m planning to add some LED strip lighting inside my X1C, mainly so that I can better see what’s going on inside, especially when monitoring the printing remotely, but also when trying to see into it when standing nearby and it’s all closed up.

It occurs to me though that there may also be some kind of goldilocks number of lumens that will get the best results with spaghetti detection. Anyone have a theory as to what that number might be?

I suppose I could just add “more than enough” lumens and then dial it back, but I’m not even sure what that number would be.

So, if nothing else, if you’ve already upgraded your X1C interior lighting and you’re happy with how bright it is, how many lumens did you put in there? If I could hear a few comments here on what has satisfied other X1C users, then that would provide a helpful ballpark from which to start.

Can’t tell you specifically how many lumens but I used these LED’s and soldered one of these connectors and plugged it into where the stock led light plugs in. My lighting is controlled using the stock LED control buttons so in essence I upgraded my light to something that actually lights the interior. I’ve had no issues what so ever using this, spaghetti detection has worked just fine. I’ve had it let me know a couple of times. It’s nothing fancy but does the job and I’ve been very happy with it.

I used this riser if it matters.

Thanks for the links. I’m planning to use the same type of “dotless” LEDs as you, and like you, a nice neutral white somewhere in the 3000K to 4000K color temperature range.

Did you use the entire roll (4.9 feet) of LEDs? If so, then the answer is 1,200 lumens. If not, can you tell me how many inches or feet you did use? With that info I can quantify the lumens by imputing the pro-rata amount:

I just measured them and it works out to 1270mm (50"). ± ~12mm? Should be close enough I suppose to calculate from there. Back of the napkin math, I’d about 1020 lumens?
