How much does infill pattern affect warping?

I know there are people who like to experiment with such things, so hopefully someone can answer the question in the title. I’d obviously prefer answers based on direct experience, rather than “I read somewhere…”.

As for the specific question about the infill pattern: No, I didn’t notice any difference in that respect, although that’s not entirely representative. However, I did notice a difference based on the infill percentage:

  • Does the object cover the entire width of the print plate? Significantly.
  • Does the object mainly increase in height? If so, then not at all, actually.

As I said, both points relate to the infill percentage. The pattern itself didn’t make a difference to me, but they’re still related, of course. Other factors usually counteract this, but that wasn’t the question. I just make sure I don’t overdo it with the infill percentage.


From my personal experience: The more material a 3D object contains, the more likely it is to develop stresses that can cause warping. The pattern is not important; it’s the total amount of material that matters. I prefer to address this issue using alternative solutions.

Perhaps you should include the infill percentage in the question. This would provide a clearer overall picture, given that one person might use 10%, while another might use 60%.
