How to avoid bad ratings

my most recent model has gained popularity (compared to my other models) but I got one 2 star review for layer adhesion which have dropped it below the 4 star rating as it has only be rated twice so far.
I had read through various threads but I am looking for clarity on how bad this affects my points , for example:-
while my print profile remains below the 4 star threshold will I perminantly lose the print profile reward during this time even if with additional reviews it comes back up to 4 stars?

should I be putting additional information in my description to help avoid this .

it is very frustrating

If a bad rating has little to no information about why the profile is bad, or the information given for why the profile bad is user error like poor bed adhesion, many designers will report the rating as “Misinformation” and MakerWorld will remove the rating at their discretion.

It’s also worth noting that it is possible a profile is responsible for poor bed adhesion such as not having a brim when needing it or part orientation is suboptimal, so that’s why the option to select “Poor Bed Adhesion” is available in the rating. However, it’s still almost always user error

I can’t say that specifically but I did recently have a model that had gotten 30+ downloads with no reviews. Someone posted a 5 star review and I got 3 points awards posted to my account - one each for having a 4/5 star review / high quality print for the 10, 20, and 30 download milestones.

So even if you cross thresholds without the high quality print bonus, it looks like they still add the points in when/if it does go 4/5 stars.

Yours is slightly different in that you are dropping down from high quality print and hopefully going back into it when you get more reviews. That might change this scenario but bet if the average moves above 4 again you’ll get missing points for thresholds. Can’t guarantee it though.

the model does contain a sharp angle on the bed which I have a small fillet on and contains a lot of thin slots , however during the design process I have printed the model over 15 times and then printed the full plate 4 times with no issues and not needing brims or supports , should I add a brim ‘just because ?’
I also had another bad rating on another model because the beads they used were not suitable for the model even though it clearly states the size recommended this was the only rating so is that model now a rightoff points wise?

Same here. been waiting for support because of one guy that came to a model i prepared all the parts just to say that everything is wrong with it, but without any pictures or anything like it. And that’s in a model with lots of downloads and prints already and no one complained about it like this guy did… report?! Waiting since forever. May as well leave it there.

But lately reports are not getting any attention or getting denied. Lots of reports on my part about stolen models, people that create new accounts with no printed pictures, etc… All denied. Seems like @MakerWorld has chosen his path and to be honest, i am losing interest in the platform as it is since there are more platforms where i can get “rewarded” if that is the case.

Oh well, another day, another makerworld “thing” :upside_down_face:

You must have missed certain discussions around here…

Anyway, Beta or not, we users, are the one that report. Makerworld doesn’t have a “moderation” team for that. If they start ignoring blatant offenses, users will start thinking about doing the same and in a few months this will be a wreck. So… reports are there, reports are used for certain rule breaking models and as such, they should be moderated. Again, if users start stopping reporting, models will be cloned, stolen, sold, etc… we are the moderation, we should be the ones to be heard.

But that’s my opinion and i could go even further. No worries, i got your point and totally understand it. :ok_hand: :grinning:

I’m new on here and the models I have posted previous to this one are generally niche so low downloads , I am confident that the ratings will improve overall on the models I have uploaded, I was just concerned I would lose the points over the time it takes to recover from that one 'bad bed adhesion review ’ as in life, people are quicker to judge on what they think is negative that what is positive

In my experience, you wont loose anything. It’ll just be delayed. I’ve had a few times where a low rating mucked things up, but once it hits that 4 star threshold again, any points not rewarded for the amount of downloads, will come in.

I believe the majority of points come from downloading and successful prints, then a small reward for the star rating.

Successful prints I assume come from the cloud/app when it’s finished successfully (even if it prints spaghetti, but finishes, I seen the successful prints notification.

Like @MZip , I’ve had models not get a rating for awhile, but once I get one, it seems to be retroactive.

Very correct.

If you earn 1,000 combined downloads and prints (they are counted as two downloads) you earn the following assuming each one also has a matching rating reward.

  • Model ÂŁ67
  • Profile ÂŁ8

Profile rewards are nowhere near those for the model.

My concern would be the 3.5 rating might put people off downloading in the first place meaning model points never increase

I feel you. I have a similar case with a fairly popular model with only 2 ratings; one 5 star and one 1 star. The 1 star shows an image where the parts are assembled wrong despite the assembly images I show.

If they’ve posted evidence of why their rating is bogus it would make for a good case to MW to get that rating removed as erroneous.

Put all the information in the description.
You can try to respond to the person who gave you 2 stars (multiple times) ask how can you help. Then report it to the makerworld as misinformation.
