I had a bad clog on my A1 Mini. I took the hot end out and its a mess, still hanging from the wires but looks difficult to simply replace due to the wiring.
Question is how do I get the PET-G off of the hotend, or should I replace it (and if the latter how do you resolder/connect the wires if I get a new one).
There is nothing wrong with it except: the filament is so caked on the clip that holds the hot end in that it will not even move.
What should I do ?
Bob
Do you mean this bit? It can be purchased:
But you can also try setting your printer into maintenance mode and turning the heat up to 250C and slowly peeling it away.
THANKS ! for the quick response Flabby. Yes, that’s the part I’m talking about. I have one on order as its looking futile to clean off the filament. I found an excellent Youtube on how to replace the Assembly but will check the Wiki also. Would sure like to know what caused it as my A1 Mini has worked perfectly up to now. Some say its bed adhesion, others say no…
it can be a lot of things. sometimes its cheap filament, sometimes the printer just has a moment, sometimes its a clog, sometimes you didn’t latch your nozzle on correctly (see attached image). sometimes the filament is too wet (tpu, petg or even pla) or its too sticky (85a tpu comes to mind), sometimes its because the plate hasn’t been properly cleaned with warm water and soap in a while.
They make little toothbrush-looking Brass wire brushes can help dramatically in cleaning up blobs. Care around the wires of course, but heat it up for 5 minutes and then give it the ol brushy brushy. Useful for quick tip cleaning without burning your fingers too.
