How to do an I.P. Report the right way?

Hi all,
First of all, let me say I am not a native English speaking person, but I do what I can to explain as good as I can what is the matter here. If you have question, please ask.

I am asking for advice, as I think i did not file a complaint about stealing (modifying) a design I made the right way, as it was first denied and now it is ignored by BambuLab.

The thing is, I made this adapter to use a Parkside Saw on a Parkside Track.

Then, a few weeks later I got contacted by someone who asked me if he could be allowed to remix my design for another type of Parkside saw and I told him I would be fine with that only if he would mention the original source, my name and if he would post it as a remix.
A few days later he got back to me saying that because my file was posted as a Standard Digital File License, he was not able to do it as a remix and I told him to then specifically mation that it is a remix, mentioning my original design, and to post this under the same license as I used because otherwise people could work from his design and copy my work. He never answered to that reply.

Last week I found out he (I think it’s the same person) uploaded his work but without any of the things I asked him. He doesn’t state his design is a remix, he doesn’t mention my design as an original, he doesn’t mention me at all and, to make things worse, he put a logo from him on the design, as if he designed it.

Of course I didn’t like this, and I hit the report button and told MakerWorld this design was not his original design, I am the creator and he only changed some dimensions, like everything I also mentioned above. MakerWorld replied to me that they rejected the claim, and asked me that If I want them to look at it again, I had to give them a bunch of extra information, which I did. I gave them all the answers and mailed it at copyright@makerworld.com

Now, I don’t hear anything anymore. It’s dead silence and when I take a look at my claims, it says there are no claims.

So, clearly I must have done something wrong. I must have made the claim differently from how MakerWorld expects it to be or something like that. The original design is even posted as an Exclusive model, so according to what MakerWorld says, they should help me with the protection of my intellectual property, but that doesn’t happen at this moment.

What should I do next?

I don’t think an IP report is the one you wanted, just a regular report with the option of duplicate upload is probably the right way to go, IP reports are more for things like DC claiming that you’re using superman iconography etc, something they have an outright legal ownership of, while you do technically own the copyright to that model its something designed to work with other very specific tools so would likely be considered “un original” in that anyone who owned that saw and that rail is likely to end up with an extremely similar design given the dimensions of the saw and rail

Thanks, I didn’t know there was a difference between IP copyright claim and duplicate upload, I will look into that.

Yet, there is no way the person designed this himself as he even copied the mistakes I made into his file. He only changed dimensions, and added his own logo to my desing, that’s all.

There is a good chance that he modeled it himself. The thing is, even if it is based on your creation, if he actually created the model itself, as in didn’t download yours and just modified that file, then he doesn’t have to give you any credit. There is a difference between using the same idea for something and directly copying something. Unless you get a patent for it (Which is unlikely given the simple nature of the model) anyone who wants to model their own can do so. They just can’t directly copy/paste your 3d file

Just an update to this, I brought both models into a 3d modeler and they are not the same. Even resizing the object doesn’t get you the same model, as there are significant differences between the two designs. I’m afraid it is not a copy

If your model is posted as Standard Digital File License, He cannot post his version as a remix. Makerworld will not allow it. You have to change your license to allow for remixes. He probably just decided to go make his own from scratch so it would not be a remix off of yours.

That’s exactly what he said to me in the conversation we had. It was in that same conversation I told him to ‘mention’ that it’s a remix, and that I don’t want him to use a different license as what I did. Also, I told him to include a link to the original file.

It’s not like he made something new, like IllumimagicCreative brings up. We talked about this, and then he ignored everything.

I am happy to show my original Fusion files to MakerWorld, and I would love to see his files.

Hi, you need to select the second option so that you can see the records in the IP Reports section. If you choose the first option, your report will be treated as a regular report.
