How to get into LAN mode and use it

There is a lot of anger and confusion right now when it comes to LAN only.
I thought it might nice to put is all together for those just starting with 3D printing.

What is LAN only mode?
It should offer connectivity with Bambu Studio or Orca slicer WITHOUT a connection to the cloud/internet.
What are to pros and cons?

You can print even if there is no internet available, like in your basement.
Downside is that you still need an account and cloud access to set up the printer the first time.
Bambu might fix this at some point but until then…
You can create custom profiles and all including synchronising your AMS with Studio.
Downside is that without the cloud you need to know what you to prevent ending with a ton of basically identical profiles.
Time laps works but you need a FTP program to download them from the SD card.
Considering the slow connection I guess that’ only worth for X1 users.
If you know how slow the P1 and A1 models are with uploading files to them you know how long it takes to download a long video…
Just grab the SD and stick it into the computer

How to get Lan Only working?
Just follow the Bambu Wiki.
After that the problems start, so …
Do a CLEAN install of Studio.
Meaning > Export you configs and profiles, uninstall Studio and select to delete all custom things as well.
Install the latest Studio version.
Use Handy to assign the printer to your cloud account.
Log into you account in Studio and confirm all works.
Now, and only after all this the Lan only mode works as advertised.
Close Studio.
Select Lan only on the printer.
Note the access code.
Start Studio and select your printer from the drop down list in the Device tab.
Enter the acces code and you are done - if you need an IP address at this stage, grab the only the printer shows.

Check that you can now access the printer in LAN only and if so import your profiles and settings.
The reason so many people say LAN only does not for them is because of not doing a clean install - Bambu has to fix some problems so this simple update will work without the hassles above.

What about X1 users ???
If you did not update to the 1.0.8 firmware stick to the old one for a bit longer.
Already on the newest firmware?
Then you might get no benefit from Lan only mode as most things no longer work.
You can still try the above with a clean install and report back if it does work four X1

So I just set up my p1s about a week ago and u do not need access to set up LAN only. Look up using user_wifi.cfg on the micro card. I am not saying it is painless and easy, but it should be. I tried the same thing several times before I even got it to display the LAN name, even then there was no IP. I would advise using a rweserved IP for the device if you have the option on your DHCP source. Also, they say you need to have printer and PC on same LAN. Mine wouldn’t work that way. I put printer on 2.4 LAN and PC is on 5GHz Lan. Yes, same router but different LAN names. The printer does seem to work on 5GHz but I was getting tired of playing with it so tried moving it over first which worked. You do not have LAN only until you get the printer to start displaying the wifi name (or scan a QR code, no cell service where I live).
I would also sugest getting another micro card and formatting in printer and try using that first. I used notepad++ and notepad but can’t remember which seemed to work better.
