One of the reasons rule-breaking seems unstoppable is that there isn’t much consequence. If a model or print profile is taken down, the uploader can just wait a few hours and then upload again.
How best to give the rules some teetch while not penalizing innocent mistakes?
I will start with the following suggestion and let others provide their better ideas.
If a model or print profile is taken down because of rule violation, the account’s user level would be reduced by 1. i.g. a level 25 acct would have its user level reduced to 24. Once the level gets down to zero, the account will be banned for 6 months from uploading. Deduct 1 for each violation, for example, if an account has 10 models taken down, its user level would be deducted by 10. The level deduction and ban can be coded in so manual deduction is not required.
I understand that user level doesn’t serve any function at present, but to causal users looking for models to download, an account having a high user level can seem more legit than one with a lower user level. Rule breakers typically have high user level because they either copy/steal models and/or skip printing the models so they can “generate” lots of models in a short time.
If the 3-strike out rule were adopted, it would have been great. But do you see that possibility coming soon?
Starting with level can have less resistance. Level is a community engagement/contribution indicator, more like brownie points. For cacual users who have no insight into this, an uploader with a high level can seem more legit when in reality some can be the opposite.
Rule-breaking shouldn’t be rewarded with brownie points. So it’s a stronger argument to have the level reduced as the first step. It will also have a visible consequence for each violation, better than no consequence at all.
Not sure how innocent it is for an account to forget uploading photos 5 times in a roll. But safeguards can be added to prevent first-time offender from being banned.
