How to install gear and spring for extruder? Please help! Important

I uninstalled the gears from the extruder and the spring and cleaned it following the deep clean tutorial from bambulab. Since then nothing works… It just clicks and the lever vibrates and makes a clicking sound but it doesn’t move. Only when I press it, everything comes out… I wonder if some piece fell down somewhere during the process and I am unaware… It is a spring in between the screw and the lever right? or is there something else like a ball bearing or another piece that I am missing? Can you tell me if I missing something and how to fix? It literally stopped working since I cleaned it and I dismounted it and mounted it already like 4 times to see if I did something wrong but every time it goes just wrong… Could it be the filament hub ? something there? I don’t think so because it appeared just after clearing it But maybe could be??:… TELL PLEASE

If someone knows… Please let me know

It might help if you could post some pictures of what you have done.

I have installed eveything exactly as the guide. The issue is that the string is loose inside and it won’t get the two gears tight enough… So I need to push the lever. Otherwise it just doesn’t extrude

Have you adjusted the Tension Screw…??

The spring is tensioned against the lever using a Tension Spring, a Spring Retainer, and a Tension Screw. The way this works is that one end is against the lever, the other end as the spring retainer installed on top of it. The Spring Retainer has a varying diameters and a cup on one end. The smaller outer diameter should be sitting inside the string as that will guide the retainer with the spring. The cup end of the retainer will contact the Tension Screw, when the Tension Screw is screwed into the Extruder Housing.

If you are missing the Spring Retainer, unfortunately it would seem that you will have to either contact Bambu, or buy a new Extruder Unit (Hardened Steel Extruder Unit - X1 Series | Bambu Lab Global). I do not see spare parts for the Tensioning Mechanism on the store page.

Hope this helps.

So you are telling me that apart of the screw and the spring there is something else? Until now I was just putting the spring into the lever and the screw but the spring was there loose and not tense… Maybe there was another piece that I lost when I opened it as everything jumped suddenly… I thought there was just the screw. So the piece you are seeing in the pic with the spring isn’t a screw? Is it the retainer?

I am slow to understand sorry

Also do you know if there is any model to print that part? I can still sprint if I push the lever manually

It is a metal part, The screw goes into the hole that the red arrow is pointing to in the picture and puts tension on the spring when you tighten the screw. I lost mine the first time I took the extruder of my X1C apart, fortunately I was able to find it after a bit of searching. I don’t think it’s sold as a separate part so if you can’t find it you may need to order a new extruder. I have not seen a model of that to print, could probably create one using primitives in Bambu slicer.

Okay thanks. If you happen to make the model let me know. I am sure you will get many downloads as other people may need them. Thanks for telling me know

Okay, I made the model and tested in my spare extruder and put filament through and it worked fine, I tried uploading to Maker world but have not done that before and I must have done something wrong, it just seems to be gone so I put it on Printables. Her is the link: Printables

Wow that was helpful. I will test it and come back to you to give feedback.

Sounds good. I figured out MakerWorld and got it posted there as well link - Extruder gear spring tensioner for bambu Labs Printers by rentfrow - MakerWorld

Same issue here, mine popped out somewhere when I took my extruder apart and can’t find it for the life of me. thanks for the model, hard to make one when you don’t have the dimensions. I’m not sure it’s the same but looks really close, Bambu now sells an A1 screws kit that comes with 5 springs and 10 of these for the A1 AMS lite. I ordered one to see, but would make sense to reuse as many parts as possible.

Do you have a link for the screw kit…??

I wouldn’t be sorry, you taught me something before I even got my printer, thank you!
