Does anyone know if there is a way to have Bambu Studio tell you the exact name of the Bambu filament(s) loaded? For now it just says “PLA Matte” with a color swatch, but it doesn’t tell you the name of the color.
I actually had that same thought today: They should improve this! According to GitHub - Bambu-Research-Group/RFID-Tag-Guide: Instructions on how to read out the bambulab nfc tags the RFID data even includes what temperature and time is recommended for drying the filament! But I digress. Assuming “Filament type” holds “Bambu PLA Matte”, the “detailed Filament type” likely holds the rest of the full name (it can only hold 16 characters, so perhaps a full name of “Bambu PLA Matte Ash Grey” is constructed by concatenating the two fields). So maybe we just need to add yet another feature request over on GutHub.
EDIT: I did so now: Show/use specific names of filament from RFID data, as opposed to just a type · Issue #3415 · bambulab/BambuStudio · GitHub
I put a spool of Bambu Labs Basic Yellow into my AMS, in Bambu Studio I can see that it’s RGB Value is R:252 G:227 B:0 which converts to Hex #FCE300 which is a yellow color. I checked Bambu Labs Filament and they have a PLA Basic Hex Code Table that list Hex values for thier PLA Basic colors but the Hex value for PLA Basic yellow is #F4EE2A. I found the Box that the yellow Filament came in and it lists filament code 10400 which matches the filament code on Bambu Lab’s web site for PLA Basic yellow. There is no Hex code on the box. I checked 2 other Bambu filaments and the Hex code converted from RGB in Bambu studio does not match the Hex code in the tables on Bambu’s web site.
Home assistant lists several attributes for the spools in the AMS, the Name “Bambu PLA Basic” is correct, the Color is listed as a hex code and matches the hex code converted from the RGB values in Bambu Studio and not the Hex code on the Bambu web site tables. Min and Max temperatures, remaining filament, S/N and spool type “PLA” are also listed.
I was looking for the same and found this old thread. Studio isn’t telling me the name, but the Bambu Handy app (android if it matters) shows me the name of each filament in the AMS.
weird, thank you for this. Wish it was in Studio as well
Thank you, this worked perfectly! I have a couple Bambu blue shades and I forgot which one I loaded. This was super helpful.
