Hello everyone. First of all, I am a new 3D printer user. I own a Bambu Lab X1C Combo printer. I want to print the model in the photo. I am using eSun Matte PLA filament and have the standard 0.4mm nozzle that came with the printer.
However, I haven’t been able to set up the Bambu Lab print settings properly. When I print in Spiral Vase mode, the printer does not print the bottom part of the model. Additionally, the result is very thin and of poor quality.
When I try to print normally, the print time and filament usage increase by 4-5 times. Moreover, tears appear in the upper parts of the model.
Please help me. What are the best settings to print the model in the photo using Bambu Lab Studio?
The issue with printing the model normally is that it will have multiple wall loops which will make it let less light through, and the tear. The tear you describe is called a Z seam, and the only way to get rid of it is to use vase mode.
Check an if in doubt increase the number of bottom layers.
I assume you want a proper wall thickness.
That can be done in vase mode quite easy.
In vase mode, after the bottom is done, everything is OUTER WALLS.
With the 0.4mm nozzle it is not problem to print 0.6mm thick walls, even more if need be.
If you want to print this vase the ‘normal’ way >
Set the number of bottom layers as needed.
Set the Sparse Infill to 0%.
Set the top layers to 0.
This works and activating the Scarf joint makes those start/end points near invisible.
But I still prefer vase mode with an increase for the outer walls.
In fact I have dedicated print profiles just for vase mode
First of all, thank you for your help. As far as I understand, I need to use Spiral Vase mode. My goal is actually to get a high-quality print that is not too thin. What settings do I need to adjust in Spiral Vase mode?Could you provide me with the settings and their values?
Also, when I try to slice the same model in Spiral Vase mode, the software gives an error due to the gap in the socket part of the lamp. How can I design a socket for the lamp in Spiral Vase mode?
You don’t have to use vase mode, you can try to play with the x-y hole compensation to make the wall thinner. Then I would also suggest using a brim for better bed adhesion, since the wall will be very thin
